My PSP has not had much use since I bought it due a lack of games and the sheer quantity of must own titles on the DS but with the release of FM Portable, Daxter and Outrun I seem to have it on permament charge because it is getting used so much. I am addicted to Football Manager despite being really bad at it and Daxter is just as good as it's PS2 counterparts. With Tales of Eternia also waiting to be played the PSP is finally showing its worth, just a little later than expected.

bought a psp today, no dead pixels (yay!), i always liked the overall feel of the system, it does feel well built and expensive, however i find its let down by the umd tray whch feels cheap and clunky . I haven't got a memory card for it yet (bought one on evilbay though) so at the moment i'm just being a c**t playing all the mortal kombats , continued punching victories!

I did like the music videos that came on the demo disk, the psp is probably great for those 5 minute thrills, i can just see it being awkward watching a whole 90 minute film with the thing. I'll look out for some umd's for it (bottom perhaps?) especially as i'm seeing umd movies priced basically to clear at a lot of places, i think i'll start snapping up a few cheap ones i can find before most shops stop stocking them.

Got my white PSP earlier this week and it's been glued to my hands since, thanks to Outrun! I've got Ride Racer, too, but it's not even been out of the box so far.

Got one dead pixel about 2 in from the left, but I only notice it on the start up screen if I'm looking for it. I find dead pixels on the DS are way more obvious...

Having recently bought a DS Lite i've been able to compare Nintendos latest hardware to the PSP, and i have to admit the PSP is much better built. The finish is superior, more solid, fit is better, the much slated buttons arent universally worse.

My DS Lite for example has a sort of loose bit of clear facing along the front of the lower clam that you can actually press and see it go in (about 1mm). Its not a fault, its the way its constructed. Where various bits of plastic join also dont fit as smoothly. Overall button placement is marginally better, but with the exception of the D-pad (which i havent used much TBH) nothing feels particularly better than the PSP. While the screen is bright, its dubious if its brighter than "level 4" on the PSP, and the brightness dosent make up for the difference in clarity or colour intensity. Daxter is stunning in the vibrancey of colour. The PSP screen really is amazing. The PSP has that extra weight to it which i dont think helps the button placement and hand position. Place them together and the PSP looks more expensive - off or running something - like orders of magnitude more so, not just the double price difference. Its been interesting examining each really.

But i've always said its down to the games, which is personal prefernce as to the style of what you like. I will have to take umbrage with people that slate the PSP's hardware (unfairly) when compare to a DS Lite now however.

Just finished Daxter, that last boss gave me a few troubles. Playing AC: Formula Front International, Wipeout Pure (still!), Mercury (last few levels), various SNES stuff, SOCOM FTB online.

Getting another PSP shortly so I can play my wife at Lumines. It's coming with some Japanese titles (incl Ridge Racer) Anyone know if my UK Ridge Racer save will work with the Japanese game? I'm going to sell the UK one to a friend, but don't want to have to play 2/3 of the game again just to get back to where I am now - even though that would be sweet

No, unfortunately. Apart from the obvious language differences, the UK & US versions of Ridge Racer(s) include the MAX Tour Mode, which isn't on the JAP version.

the psp is starting to 'click' with me (something the DS never managed to do), been playing pro evo and gta most and getting outrun 2 tomorrow. I even find UMD movies quite cool, their rrp is well too overpriced but a lot of stores have been cutting prices so i managed to pick up greatest FA cup goals, 250 classic premiership goals, and la blue girl for the same cost as picking up one single UMD at the rrp. Probably what UMD viewing is best for i can't see myself watching a full length movie on the thing but UMD's in which you can view for half an hour and put back down and pick up later again is definately best suited to the system (and for me)

I picked up GTA the other day and ive found it to be a pile of garbage really cant get used to it on the PSP, so hopefully i'll be changing it on Friday for Shin Budokai.

Remember GTA has other uses apart from the game itself... Once i completed GTA i've never played the game itself again, but it is one of the most regularly used UMDs i have!
