I thought it would outsell the DS by a mile I must admit , but the way some people go on the PSP sold nothing and is a flop when it not.

I just go by retail @ the end of the day as the best indicator of a machines success If the shops are fully backing it, then you now its doing well.
I remember some DC fans bringing up sales figures to try and make out the machine wasn?t in dire straights. All it took was one walk in the shop to know it was all over, I remember thinking the same when the N64 just come out and all shop space of Saturn stuff was taken up by the N64

This "MS is better than Nintendo, is better than Sony stuff is better than... blah blah blah" is getting really boring now, especially as it seems to be the same people doing it time after time.

        Everyone back on topic.
I was just responding to the dudes constant Wii baiting

Doesn't matter who started it, it should go without saying that there's no need to fan the flames.

As I said above, this childish format war talk is starting to pervade threads on far too regular a basis. And it's essentially the same mind numbing arguments that were going around in the days of the Megadrive and SNES... thats over ten years ago.

Time to move on (in general and this thread).

Dunno if this has been raised yet, was looking at a thread over at Assembler, and it appears they put 2 shoulder buttons on the latest wii-mote??

I'm on two minds whether to get the Wii? As i like really deep games such as Oblivion, Knights of the Old Republic, Warcraft, etc. Word round the camp fire suggest the Wii won't offer games of a grander scale, like the ones i've mentioned previously.

So if the Wii can't provide the content i'm after, then sadly its a non-purchase for me. Nintendo need to offer more than just Mario, Zelda, and a different controller to win me over.

I'm with you on that, it's something I've been concerned about for a while.

But the control mechanism has the potential to give a freeer degree of movement and control to all games, adventure titles included, so I'm hopeful.

Well TH looks very Linear on the Wii but more worryingly than that was unresponsive the remote was to the guy actions , only when he did big moves from side to side did it register on screen.

Tony Hawks looks like it'll be harder to control with the Wii than a traditional control scheme. Why not just control the character as on a normal pad (the Wii has one)? The whole control scheme of the game seems, very kiddie.

Seeing that guy in the way he controls the game reminds me when i first started gaming i.e. moving both hands left or right to gain results. I've came a long way since then.

Reminds me of something I noticed a while back. You'll notice the Nintendo-made Wii games seem to use the analogue stick for character movement (that's what it's there for), and the Wii remote for character actions (Mario is a good example). This seems to be the best method.

Third parties seem to prefer to use the Wii remote for steering, mainly because it allows them to take the easy option and make games like Sonic Wild Fire. Not only does this sound much more stressful to control, but seems to miss the point in that the Wii remote is supposed to increase the scope of what you can do with your character on-screen, not just use it as a steering device.

Not saying devs should all use the Wii controller in the same way, it's just that some of these ideas, Tony Hawks and Sonic Wild Fire in particular, just look like obvious gimmicks which we'll look back on one day as being royal pains in the arse. I mean really, I'm sure more than a few of us had the same idea as Sonic Wild Fire before we even knew about the game.

I pray Capcom will show us all how it's done.

Good post and when all is said and done, the game doesn't nothing that the DC couldn't do in terms of gameplay

It'll be out within 6 months after launch.
