Third party needs to make a Saturn pad clone or similar decent 2D controller. I also can't pull off any kind of moves on the pad, can spam the thing on the Saturn >_<

That's an interesting point actually. There's so much that could be done with traditional 2D gaming via HD and barely no one is touching it at present. I suppose it'll take the PS3 a couple of years for the usual Japanese developers to feel up to the task.

I know SNK have been balking about not developing on next-gen HD systems until 2008-9 when there's a sufficent userbase built up for smaller games with smaller audiences to gain some money back from increased development budgets. Designing hi-res fluently animated sprites would obviously be included.

I can almost guarantee that come SF2 on PS3, it will still look like a bloody SNES game. Surely its not THAT difficult to revamp the graphics of a decade (?) old arcade game?

Not that difficult, but would it make more people buy the game?

          Capcom evidently think not.

Seems to play OK with my pad, but definitely not as well as with MAME and an arcade stick - I beat the AI reasonably easily, but what's the difficultly set on to on the demo by default?

Totally agree that disconnecting prior to defeat online should give a loss.

Also a massive shame that the leaderboards are purely online wins - would it have been so difficult to include a single player leaderboard too? You do have to wonder what Capcom have been doing during all this delay time.

Oh and I still hate fighting Dahlsim - he is the one I still struggle to win against :/ So, it definitely plays as close to the original as the Xbox pad allows.

                      3 stars (***)

Anyone with a good memory, can they remember if the CPU used to just whack Hadoken after Hadoken at you as Ryu? The gameplay doesn't seem as much fun as before, it just seems...annoying.

Yeah it did, and you just counter by shielding then jump-direction kicking. Also, the up jump hard kick totally works against Zangief on AI. It seems to play as identically as I remember all those years ( and questionably 800 points worth ) ago.

I think the borders are still my biggest gripe however, most arcade games can manage to display in widescreen so why can't this?
err you can stretch it to widescreen
