US Wii: Preorder Details Thread

I doubt that Nintendo are shipping Wiis to VG+ (or anyone else for that matter) singly, 1 every 2 hours or so. It's far more likely that the next batch will be 15 or 20 units, don't you think.

Didn't you get an email from VG+ saying that yours wasn't in the first batch? I find it unlikely that they told you anything different from what they told the rest of us - that their 2nd shipment was expected sometime between Tuesday & Friday this week. They're not overdue to you and I'll be glad to get mine by next Wednesday.

Yeh they said they'd be getting a new shipment this week, but since tylers was sent already on Monday, and I'm only 10 places behind him, I'd of thought I'd have mine sent by now too since there supposed to be receiving more systems between Tuesday and Friday and I just expected it to be sooner rather than later. And I dont remember saying they'd be getting 1 every 2 hours or so?

Whats the big deal with hoping for the best?

It's possible to plug it in using a socket convertor, but you'll end up regretting it. They don't convert the voltage levels, they just change the socket shape, you'll still be shoving 240 volts of AC up its arse. Then BOOM!

Just because it's the same shape connector, doesn't mean that it's shoving out the same voltage level, has the same polarity or has a high enough power rating to cope with the Wii's demands.

If you're importing a unit - the power supply will be expecting 110V at the mains - in the UK we run twice that, that's why we need a convertor.

The power supply converts the 110V AC to DC (probably 12v and/or 5v).

You need a stepdown transformer.

Put it this way taijix, if you plug it in with just a socket adaptor, the Wii Power Supply WILL fry.
