Strangely enough, i'm getting the same results via my official nintendo component cable on my USA wii (compared to my PAL wii) using the same cable and 480p HDTV settings on the wii dashboard.
Everything is looking more jaggied, plus the colours look slightly washed on the USA wii.

I noticed this straightaway when playing Zelda on both regions.

Not quite sure what's up with that :/

Ok, found out that (for all this time) i assumed the pal one was running in 480p which it wasn't (even though it was set at that resolution on the wii menu) and its seems to be just running on interlaced, from what i can tell.

Since i've flicked between both 480i/ 480p on the USA machine, and there are noticeable differences between both.

Sorry if this was common knowledge.

I connected my Wii to the internet for the first time just now. It seemed to have worked fine - but then I noticed that the pointer is now moving jittery on the Wii menu screen. Honest to god, this update has fecked with the smoothness of my Wii remote. Only minutes before I downloaded the update, I was swishing the pointer around the Wii menu and marvelling at the silky smooth movement. Now it moves as if it's playing at 10 frames per second.

I've even turned off all the lights to make sure there's no IR interference.
The weird thing is, that it goes back to being nice and smooth as soon as I open something like the Mii channel or Weather channel.

Has anyone else noticed this problem after going online?

i sent my wii to nintendo returns over 17 days ago by royal mail special delivery, and it was signed for and deliverd the next day according to royal mail website, ive been waiting over 2 weeks now and ive spent over 6 hours of phone calls and every time i talk to them im told it has never deliverd and they will go and look through and call me back, ive had this told me 4 times and not once have they botherd to call back,

today ive just phoned again and i talked to another very un helpful idoit who told me it was never deliverd, i gave him the tracking code he checked it and still nothing, i phone royal mail and they say it was deliverd and will investigae thematter,

Nintendo customer service is the worst i have ever dealt with an i urge you to stay well clear if anything ever goes wrong,

so far ive lost out on my wii console £180,£45 of vc points,£8 postage £about 60 of phone calls, and about 80 hours of gameplay saves all lost
            can anyone advise?

Well as it was sent by Special Delivery you automatically get ?500 insurance cover, so if Nintendo keep acting like twats you should be able to get compensation from Royal Mail... eventually. This doesn't fill me with confidence about the Wii I sent to Nintendo for repair

According to Royal Mail they received mine on the 8th so not long before I hit the two week mark. It really is shocking that they don't have a better system in place. They don't even allocate you a returns number or anythign like that, you just get told to send it in with a copy of your receipt and a covering letter. No wonder it takes them so long to sort everything out. Bit of a shambles really.

BTW yesteryear, what number did you call to ask if they'd received your parcel? The normal 0870 6060 247 one or is it a different number? I feel the need to call and see how things are going after reading your post!!

yes the same number m8, 247

when you call you ask them to find your wii, either in the stock room or repair room, i think we should all report Nintendo to watchdog,

Cheers. Might give it a few more days before I call, don't fancy another 30 minute wait on the phone at the mo!

Y'know that doesn't sound a bad idea. Mines been with them for a week so it looks like I'm in for a long wait. Haven't recieved any emails from them or a response regarding their appalling call times and refusal to pay postage cost. Outrageous.

Do you have to send watchdog an actual letter for them to take notice or do emails carry the same weight?

Why don't you just phone up nintendo and demand to speak to whoever is in charge. Usually a word in a supervisor/managers ear holds more weight than a standard telephone operator.

I just got them today. Mine are coloured instead of white.

Just when I got my wiimote replacement (free of charge for damage caused by the thin strap) and thought: what a nice service (especially for Germany), I get this major annoyance. Hope Nintendo is going to be nice again when I call them tomorrow.

I hope you will find a solution for your Wii soon. Really sorry to hear all the sh** happening to you.

You tell me 1) a telephone number where I can actually speak to a Nintendo supervisor and not a Codestorm monkey and 2) one that isn't engaged all the time... and I'll do it!

I've started having a few troubles with my PAL Wii. Monday morning I tried going online with my Wii (the last time being when I did the update). I can connect ok, but I can only visit two or three sites - I can go to Google, do a search, but can't follow any of the links. If I go into WiiConnect, it says I have to agree to the Wii Network Services Agreement, which I say yes to & then nothing. It says trying to connect & that's it for a few minutes, until I get an error message 221000.

It also mentions about updates, but I've already done that. I've tried deleting all my internet connections & trying again with the Nintendo WiFi Connector & I get the same problem. I've spoken to my local GAME & they'll replace it when they get some more in stock, but I'm baffled as to why it's suddenly gone wrong.

The only problem I've encountered is VC games not working through component - which is apparently quite widespread.

I emailed Nintendo of Europe three weeks ago and they still haven't responded. Just to add some balance I decided to email Nintendo of America and they responded within three days...

Whats the point in having an email address and phone number if no one's at the other end?
