A mate of mine in Yorkshire found me a composite cable today. We're going to do a trade for it. I get the cable and some cash and I'll send him Wii Play.
But you already have a composite cable.Or are you going to wire up your own component?

Nice to see some UK eBayers with 6+ of the genuine ones and selling them for ?50+.
They ain't released until the 15th by looks of it, the Ebay auctions all tend to say will ship on the 15th, and from what I've heard the ones GameStation were selling were Mad Catz, so you might be in luck come friday if you shop around early on

I ordered one from Yoho games on Tuesday. It was supposed to be in stock but they told me by email that they weren't. Surprisingly I just got an email that it has been sent. Now it's Out of stock in their website but maybe they are getting more?

I now got 2 cables comming from different stores. I imagined I wouldn't run into this "problem". (I'm not in the UK so I won't be selling it here.)

It says below the picture "Official Nintendo AV cable" so I'd guess so

I got to test my component cable last night and I'm a tad underwhelmed by the picture quality.

Let me say in advance that other 480p sources look pretty decent on my LCD including a US Gamecube and an Xbox. I've also eliminated a farmer Component switchbox from my setup. I have also confirmed that 480p is enabled in the menus.

Wii menus just seem mucky and Black text on white backgrounds give what I'd almost call ghosting. Games are a bit better. Excitetruck seems okay if a little jaggy and Zelda is fine for the most part. I do find Link looks a little undefined except when viewed from close up.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting it to look as good as 720p stuff but I can't help but be a bit disappointed.

madcatz or official? also i never found 480p to look great on 1366x768 tbh. my old bravia was ok but in general stuff looked soft and murky.

                        843x480 plasma ftw!!!

                          They're official Japanese cables.

Sorry haven't read all this thread but could someone tell me if the official ones have been released at all in the UK (or Europe) yet?

I get the feeling no ones got any stock of them yet...?

Seems to be confusion about the release dates, but I don't think you'll find an official cable in UK shops yet. A few people have got them for sale on eBay though.

Some people did get Mad Catz cables on release, so there should be more of them available soon.

true ... component cables arent going to help all that much if your running non-native resolution on lcds, it usually scales into a smeary mess (unless the lcd has an insane number of pixels). i still prefer games on crts ... i like my pixels to glow
