Native 480p plasma? If you're in the UK and using an SD plasma, then it will be native 576p, not 480p. So your plasma will be scaling to 576p. That could account for the blurryness.

That's weird, I'm sure I read somewhere ages ago that SD plasmas in PAL territories are 576. I guess I'm wrong. It seems odd that TVs marketed in PAL territories aren't even equipped to get the best out of their own native signal! No doubt the manufacturers just wanted to save a few pennies by not having to manufacture different panels for both NTSC and PAL regions.
As for the blur then, I have no idea, it looked pin sharp on my progressive component equipped CRT.

I have a Samsung 32" HD LCD, with my Wii connected to it via Component (was the Game brand cable until I replaced it with the official one last week), and Mario 64, SMB and DKC all work perfectly. DKC and SMB look unbelieveably low-res, but they're fully playable.
BTW the Game and Official cables seem to be pretty much identical picture-wise.
