I dont agree about ZOE tbh. The PS2 had a dismal first year or so it was the worst in console history, ZOE was the first real piece of quality really it would have sold regardless.

I'm all for believing Crackdown would sell a million copies without a halo 3 invite but as with Z.O.E because of a AAA Title demo plastered on the box we will never know.
Edit
And indeed Z.O.E was a cool game at that time also.

I just don't think many people will force themselves to like it.
I have always wondered why the hell MS didn't just release the Halo 3 Beta on a separate disc and charge say £9.99-£19.99. Hell it seems even some people are stupid enough to pay £39.99-£49.99 for it even so why not MS??
Or as a Marketplace download for points, by including this as a freebie in Crackdown cheapens peoples opinion of the game before they have even bought it.
It will always be seen as the game that sold X copies because of a beta, rather than sold X copies because people wanted it.
I was genuinely concerned that when Crackdown was orginally going to be released at Christmas, it would get buried in the rush for Gears of War. Delaying the title, getting a decent demo out and supporting it with the Halo 3 beta was the best thing they could have done.Last edited by Brats; 24-01-2007, 13:15.

Its a GTA clone simple as that.
Will I buy it..... I have to I want to be on the Halo beta.
Good bit of marketing fo an unoriginal game.
A game either plays well or it doesn't. I've only had about 10 mins with this last night, but I'll be back on when I get home.

Not saying that this is what is happening here, but it is something along the lines of what Yoshimax said and it does my head in a bit.
I have two friends who view the GTA series as a chav game and therefore turn their noses up at it. Then they went "meh" at Saints Row and now this without even playing them. Okay, Saints Row is more of the same.. if a little less.
I don't understand how gamers cannot find these games fun to play. Isn't the GTA style game almost like a genre? Oblivion? Meh.. GTA with horses.

Looked cooll but its annoying having to start over the demo with zero stats again!
Anyway... kinda sucks it keeps freezing. On the other hand I really want the full game right now. I might try to redownload the demo tonight. Maybe it will fix the freeze issue.

For the people not liking it, I can't stress enough to give it more than a quick blast. I wasn't THAT impressed initially but now I love it, play it a bit more...just do what you want, forget about doing what you are told and jump all over the place and kick the **** out of people.
Sandbox games have been redefined with this game in my humble opinion, whilst many have claimed to be completely sandbox, this is the first game I've played where I've actually just done whatever.

I always found myself that with the 3D games that I would have more fun just mucking around within the world, and ignoring the story/missions, but this would quickly be a short lived novelty because of it being directionless.
Crackdown has been made like this and is actually focused towards the lack of contraint. You can dip in and out of missions at will without any sign of Mission failed and restarts.
I can understand that this style of play won't suit everyone that is a fact of life, but I'm really enjoying it. I'm glad of the inclusion of the Beta invite with the full game because it means even more people are going to enjoy it.
not many people will be able to 100% ignore a game they have paid ?50 for, thus they will play it and hopefully really enjoy it. It is Win:Win for gamers who will experience something new and for Microsoft who will have a great new Original IP to play around with.
