I noticed a few days ago that Xi on the HK Store also has a demo which I think is a first for a PS1/PS3 game? The demo only works on the PS3 though.

This feature was added in the last Home beta update. The virtual PSP's friends feature is to see which of your friends are in Home and allows you to warp to them.

Another lame question for you then.. I have a Japanese PS3 - can I only play PS1 games off the Japanese store, or UK ones too? (are they region locked!)

Is there any word on making stuff like the Guitar Hero guitar work on the PS3 yet? I really wanna get Guitar Hero I since I missed it! Little touches like that (and the aforementioned XMB in game) would put in contention for my no1 console!

Debug, games on PS3 are region free full stop....in fact, barring blu-ray (or some of them) the PS3 is a region free machine.

I have EU, US and JPN games (disc based and ps store bough) all running on my PAL PS3.

I knew the PS3 games are region free, but wasn't sure about the PS1/PS2 games - especially as my Japanese PS3 uses hardware to play the games?

If you're telling me I can play PAL copy of God of War 2 on my JPN PS3, then I'm there, at the shops, buying a copy tonight on my way home...? I could have swore PS1 and PS2 games were region protected...

edit: Oh and trying to play a Region 2 PAL DVD on my PS3 gives me a "Get lost with your PAL junk" message...

As above...

Playing them on your PSP would be different though. The PSP can only play games from one User Account at a time. If you have games from different Stores then they will have different User Accounts so you will need to reconnect the PSP and PS3 to switch User Accounts.

PS1 & PS2 are region locked...

Basically PS1 games bought from in the PS Network store are region free, but shop bough PS1/PS2 games will only play on a PS3 from that specific region.

Hold on, I thought PlayStation Store downloaded PS1 games would only work on the same territory console? i.e. a US machine can't play UK/Japanese Store downloaded games.

I'm playing games from all regions on my PS3 and PSP!

There may be some issues playing different regions games on the PS3 in SD though as I believe PAL doesn't support 60Htz and NTSC doesn't support 50Htz?

That seems to be the case. I just got Jumping Flash from the UK store with my US PS3, and I can't play it on my SD TV.

Edit: and I can't play it on my PSP either because it insists on firmware 3.50, which crashes Capcom Puzzle World.
