Is anyone else who's using the "Full" RGB over HDMI thing finding that if you turn your PS3 off then back on, it's gone back to "Limited", even though it still says "Full" in the settings?

cool, MGS2 PAL now works on mine, didn't before.. looks lovely in 720p too, I think I prefer it with smoothing off, although not sure.

I will try a dvd one day, ... if I ever watch a film on this thing

A lot of people seem to be complaining about that over at AVS.

Cool, as long as I'm neither alone nor going mental then it's not a problem. Presumably if other people are complaining of it then it'll be fixed quickly enough.

There's the online manuals, under the network. Not sure if they're updated

                  It explains most things.

What it doesn't tell you - the new RGB Full Range setting basically gives your screen the full PC colourspace... for most TV's, Limited it actually the correct option as most TV's will expect Video colourspace levels over HDMI.

Not too sure about Super-White, but it's YCpCr-only, and I tried enabling it on-the-fly while playing a Blu-Ray and there was no difference (though it did confirm the TV accepts YCpCr).

Colours and contrast, look a lot better with that "Full" HDMI option on.
The blacks looked a touch greyer before, on my DeLL screen....

Just crept up to 50% (was on around 20% when I posted).
Is anyone else having so much trouble upgrading? I have a Japanese PS3 if that makes any difference.

Download it from the 'net and update via a storage card, that's what I'm doing. Super speedy!

Castle Shikigami II seems to work fine, before it didn't work. Now i'm hoping for Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2

Hey guys ive a question that not actually about the new patch but ive never noticed it before. Under the dvd menu it has an option for choosing the screen format as in "Auto" "RGB or "YcPcr or whatever it is". Now ive got my PS3 hooked up with HDMI and set to auto, should i have it just set to auto or to RGB or does it not make a difference. Im not really all that up to date with stuff like as you can prolly tell.

                                Auto.

Basically, DVD's and Blu-Rays are encoded on the disc in YCpCr format (whereas games are usually RGB).

When set to Auto, DVD's and Blu-Rays will run in YCpCr format, to avoid the extra conversion to RGB.
Not all displays support YCpCr (I think it was introduced in HDMI 1.2?), the PS3 will detect and adjust accordingly.
The Bravia appears to support YCpCr, I'd imagine the WLT68 does.

(fyi, Component was introduced because of this, as Component uses YPbPr, the analogue varient, it was intended for use on DVD Players).
