For any who wondered, any memory card you connect via the adaptor now shows up on the XMB as simply another memory card just like the internal ones, which you can browse, copy individual saves across from card to card (internal or external), all very easy.

Unfortunatly, games can still only access internal cards.

It's rather handy though, I can copy my Okami and FFXII saves, which are on PS3, back across to use on my PS2 (modded w/ 300GB HDD).

Running my PS2 shmups in 720p (normal mode, smoothing on) results in what was once a pixellated unplayable mess into something that looks pretty damn good and is highly playable once again

      good work Sony

Just tried .hack//GU Vol.2 on PS3, upscaled, and it has all the same visual problems as Kingdom Hearts 2 did - murky mess w/ black bar and white line on the right hand side.

There has to be a pattern here as to why some games suffer this and not others.

It wouldn't bother me except that my TV overscans a wee bit at 720p, but not 1080p.

good point, can someone with the new fireware check to see if 720p ps3 games are upscaled to 1080p?

The first one? Glad of that, I'm probably going to play through those when I'm done with Okami.

Seems that the general consensus is that people are split down the middle in terms of the improvements made to PS1/2 games by this update.

If at the very least it beats the 360's BC as has been mentioned then that alone is enough to convince me to turn to the Dark side.

                Just checked - they're not.

It doesn't even come close - aren't Xbox games played on the 360 rendered in HD rather than being upscaled?

On my TV (much like Spatial's) there's pretty much no difference whatsoever in the PS1/2 "improvements". Not tried any DVDs.

No, they are upscaled. True it's a hardware scaler as opposed to a software one on the PS3, but it's certainly just upscaling.

The DVD upscaling is certainly winning much praise, apparently passes all those DVD tests videophiles rate higher than their own eyes.

It seems this new update was entirely 100% geared towards AVSForum. RGB to Full. Better DVD upscaling than the Denon 3930 and many are reporting "best period." SuperAudioCD improvement. Update correctly pillarboxes 4:3 DVD content on 16:9 displays, and upscales them at 1080P to boot. PS3 now...

Ah, my bad. Maybe it's just helped along by the fact that Xbox games look better than PS1/2 games to begin with.

Could someone else with a high grade stick have a go using for ps2 games. Looks like Sony has stopped it working with PS2. Whether that affects all 3rd party controllers i dunno. Makes most of my ps2 games redundant though. The Arses!!

Two ticks and I'll check for you.

Edit: Nope, the HG stick definitely doesn't work.

                            Damn them!

And cheers for checking. Hopefully it's just an oversight and they'll fix it next time.

Yeah, I hope they do - it's funny because ever since the last update when they enabled the HG stick on PS2 games, I've been meaning to get properly stuck into CvSNK2 and SF3 with it - I didn't bother and now I can't!
