Recently bought a premium 360 with 5 games off someone I know for ?200, but I'm already considering selling it. It works fine, but that nagging feeling in the back of my mind about it breaking down seems to be there all the time, lol
Plus, by god, the current hardware is a bit noisy isn't it? My new PC makes less noise than this thing... it's the first time I've had to turn up my TV volume when gaming due to a noisy console drowning out the sound. So yeah, I'll prolly sell it and get my money back, then wait on the 65nm hardware. Hopefully it'll be the solution to all these problems

Just spoke to microsoft again re my missing console. Promised a call back by Thurs night at latest as they are waiting on UPS responding.
I was offered compensation by a manager in the form a a new game/accessory so might not be that bad.
I wonder if they will give me Bioshock or stranglehold
probs not, knowing my luck I will be offered PDZ or NBA2K7

The UPS man arrived unannounced this morning. MS had told me they were sending a packing label via email, but he turned up with it in hand this morning. He said that people never have the console ready when they turn up and that the system is a bit of a mess (or words to that effect.)
Quickly went down town and bought a coffin and then rapped it up and he came and took it within 15 mins of my return call.
I sent her off in full military honours, draped in the Union flag.

Oh and my brothers machine jsut lit up last night, so thats another machine gone down. Franly, software aside, the 360 from a build quality viewpoint is a pile of crap. If these were cars, or TV's, Watchdog would be on their case big time.

Watchdog: We've had several complaints that XBOX 360 video games machine consoles have been breaking. We have contacted Microsoft who have said it's very rare, and those that do break are fixed within days. So, everything is ok then!
Lamest Watchdog EVER. I think a few You Tube links for it got posted a while back.

A little tip for everyone when phoning, if you get passed through to the american customer service(you will know due to mention of dallars and the online tracking for repairs) hang up and dial again until you get through to a european service.
Not only will you get an answer quicker but they are generally more helpfull than american colleagues.

you know alot of people keep praising about how impressed they are with microsofts service at replacing machines
But that does not alter the fact THEY SHOULD NOT BREAK DOWN IN THE FIRST PLACE....especially at this scale
There should have been a far far bigger uproar........i have not had to replace my machine yet....touch wood...but i have had crashes and random freezes far more then all my other consoles combined

OK, finally got answers as to where my console is.
They dont know!!...the reason being is that it never arrived at the service centre. So everytime I called re my console and was informed it would be back by 11/8/07 at the very latest was a load of crap.
I asked why they had not even tracked this and they replied they dont track consoles.
I then asked for the tracking numbers which she would not give me, I asked for her superior and she replied there was none as this is the escalation dept. I was then informed a replacement console was despatched yesterday to which I was not informed.
My next question was to make sure it is a NTSC console to which the girl replied "uh..its what??..". She re-assured me it was a NTSC console that is on its way but I dont think it is if it has already been despatched.
Compensation:
I was half right with my prediction of games.
The games I was offered were PGR3,PDZ and a couple of other lame games from release.
The accessories are a new controller or play and charge kit or a mem card.
I have 2/3 and dont have any need for a mem card. There was no other option and she would not budge after 50 mins of a phone call. I then mentioned my xbox live sub is due for renewal in Sept to which I rqsted 6 months live but she could only give me 3 months.
I have the feeling they are only allowed to offer live sub if the cust asks.
Totally shocking service tbh, now its10 working days for my replacement to arrive. So no console since 6th July and I need to wait another 10 working days.
My advice to you all: when they pick up make sure you call MS and confirm they have rec'd your console.
