    I took mine back to GAME, they seem fairly well equipped for sorting it out and just swapped it over without question.

        I ordered up a PAL 360 from eBuyer this week and plugged it in for the first time yesterday and after maybe an hour's worth of gaming I started having problems with it shutting down and then failing to get Halo 2 working completely (Solo campaign mode oK - but on multiplayer it seemed to think there was something wrong with the Live connection even though there wasn't.) Anyway, after an hour or so it packed up completely. 3 rings. Nothing I can do to get rid (tried dissembling, etc.)

        The console is going right back. But I've spent a bit of time since looking on the official XBox forums and the Major Nelson blog and a lot of people seem to be having problems since the fall update in mid-Nov. Even those who have previously not had problems.

        Anyone on here had the same experience in the past couple of weeks since the update came out?

            Is your machine standing upright or laying flat? I found with my PS2 that standing it upright puts a strain on the eject mechanism by making the drawer 'droop' a little when it comes out. The problem mostly disappeared when I layed it flat. I wouldn't be surprised if it's something similar.

                  Well a big thank you for all your advice boys on what to do with my 3 red light launch machine. Phoned up Game again today, asked to speak to the manager and he told me to bring it on for a straight exchange. When I got there I didnt even have to provide receipt, lad just took my console from the box and got me new one... delighted

                  Have to say this one sounds a lot quieter so pretty pleased with it. Apparently the launc hmachines have didnt drives from current ones so they obviously are aware of the problems and have changed the consoles hardware.

                  Good to see Game on top of it and provided such a great service for exchange. They will certianly be getting my continued custom and Wii money in a couple of weeks

                      On average how long does it take for them to repair and send back your faulty Xbox 360? mine arrived at their repair centre friday. Would be nice to have it back as soon as possible.

                        They received mine on a Friday morning and I got it back at 5pm the following Thursday.

                          Sent mine off today, the dvd drive kept getting jammed shut if there wasnt a dvd in the drive and nearly every game gives me a disc read error. Thought I best get it done before the warrenty expires.

                          Hears hoping I have it back by the end of the week for my Gears fix.

                            Myth what error were you getting? Was it the unreadable disk error with instruction to clean the disc and try again?

                            I ask because i get that error frequently and thats with brand new games in perfect condition, i just restart and its fine again but it does bug me and i never know if it worth getting it looked at.

                              Yeah that was the error I was getting, I'd put a brand new game in and sometimes I'd get the error and sometimes I wouldn't.

                              I mainly sent it off because the drive kept getting jammed shut but the disk read error was really annoying too and I just assumed it was best to get rid now than pay for a repair when the warrentys ran out.

                                So I take it you've sent it back to microsoft and not the shop/retailer you brought it from. Did microsoft accept that the disk read error was a problem that needed them to fix.

                                If thats the case i'll probably contact them before my 360 gets to its first birthday as well.
