"It's like a living creature, dynamically growing as we speak." (translate: we are sewing up the gaping wounds on this animal)
According to Yamauchi, the update will "refine the usability of the game to make it a better experience. I think it's going to be hard to find an end to that process," he admitted. (translate: I have no self control or grasp on the real world)

I wonder how much there is always in the back of his mind "It's ok, we can release a patch later for that, meanwhile let's get back to work on perfecting the detailing on this Toyota Prius that no one will ever use".

And am I reading this right, they have a game that requires regular contact with the servers in single player, yet they catered for only 500,000 connections at any one time?

      That's shockingly short sighted...
I have been playing the game and as far as I know havent connect to the servers yet besides to update the game when I first got it. (I havent even signed into PSN since I got the game for that matter)

Theres nothing in the single player game that you cant do when offline as far as I can tell.

If you're not signed in, you won't be seeing the issues. But a lot of people like being signed in all the time, even when playing single player games, just to be able to chat with their mates etc...

Many games have 'always on' online elements for leaderboard stats etc... (look at the new Need for Speed for example, they've made a huge feature out of it), but it seems that there's an implementation issue in the way they've done it for GT5.

And it seems odd to me they didn't catch it.

          Not on PS3 we don't.

Anyhoo had about an hours play at lunchtime, didn't have any noticeable server-induced slow down, obviously not peak time admittedly.

Is there any point keeping GT5 Prologue now the full game is out? I'm sure I won't get much for trading it in...

Polyphony lost their reign, and since GT4 the ratings went downwards too. Perhaps its for the good.

PD are Japanese, so I'm not that surprised. They somehow lack the knowledge western devs have. MGO was a train wreck at launch too, PES used to be or still is a train wreck... They are a far cry from the likes of Burnout and NFS.

Is it just me or did i imagine that they said that all the licenses you got on prologue will cross over to the full game? Did that happen then, i don't know as i never gave prologue any time.

Some matchmaking to allow for fairer races (i.e. weight and power restrictions) and some nondescript performance tweaks, from the few comments I've read.

Think of it like this, buy GT5 and get GT4 for free. That pic billy posted is shockingly bad mind.
