What the standard cars don't have are things like a fully modelled engine with each nut and bolt visible as well as full modelling of every part underneath the car and because of this you won't be able to lose pieces of the car as you can in premium models.
It's looking more and more likely that the 200 premium models will be the only cars in GT5 that will have a dashboard camera.

And a movie introducing the standard cars.

It won't ruin the game for me at all, but it's a real shame this has only just been revealed.

I still don't get it. There doesn't seem any point to this unless you are wearing goggle screens. On a normal TV you have to turn your head but keep your eyes trained on the same spot (where the TV is). It's totally unnatural.

I still think the other 800 will receive basic interiors. Head tracking will only work when in cock-pit view or not?

I imagine that it's tuned to be overly sensitive so a small head movement provides a larger movement in game. That way you get free movement of where you want to look and are always facing the screen? I think it will work really well!

Mulling it over, head tracking just seems to be an awful idea for racers. Like has been said, turning your head away from the screen is useless and the trouble with making the game highly sensitive to minor movement is that even turning my head slightly away isn't natural and when I'm playing I don't sit perfectly still all the time so if I shuffle in my seat I don't want my view to suddenly swing left or right. Gonna need some real evidence it works.

Yeah, what if you've had a long day and need to stretch your neck? You've had it!

It looked dumb in the Forza Kinect demo, and that was just the guy standing there looking at a parked car. I doubt anyone in their right mind would actually use something like that while driving in a proper race.

                    Unless...

They're gonna do a Forza and have three screens!

The start of this thread is pretty funny from 2007.

Lots of talk of car damage and comparing it to Forza 2!

The non premium cars may be using GT4 assets

                        EDIT:

In motion they actually look pretty good

That packed grid of muscle cars on the move looks awesome.

The GT4 assets must have been really high res to begin with

Has it been described what type of head tracking will be enabled. If it's the 'look around the cars interior' type then I agree with you. But if tiny head movement change the perspective of the road, like those Wee controllers strapped to your head 3D demos, then i'd be far more interested. Proper perspective correct 3D could be a possibility with the right TV.

so how many cars can you race on a track then ? , i heard it was 20 online. looking at the single player demo from 2010 it only shows 8 cars
