You need to download the optional media update on another LIVE profile so it registers it to the consoles serial number, thus not needing to be signed into live.
Jesus...how backwards. Thanks for the tip. Will give it a go tonight.

Just turned my 360 on (haven't been on it for about a week!!) and it's sloooowwwwww. Not to log in, but everything else. My advice is to not touch the guide button whatever you do, and for god sake don't try downloading anything from the marketplace!
Messaging seems to be okay though, but I'm frightened to try voice chat or an online game.
Spatial, I've had severe issues with xbox.com for about a week now, it's like I'm on the slowest dialup modem in existence, it just won't load whatever I click.
I'm sure it'll be sorted out sooner rather than later though.

Tried playing an Xbox game earlier, insisted I needed to update (which I don't, as I've already got the update for the game in question), every time I sign in i'm signed out again instantly. Tried it several times before ending up with the same result and just giving up.
And of course this means that 90% of my XBLA stuff is unplayable, as I'm not playing on the original 360 I purchased the games on.
Yay DRM. Fantastic stuff!

This is totally ****ed isn't it?
Been watching some videos and then went back to the guide, only to see I'm logged out. So I log back in and see "15 friends online" and even see someone pop online, but I'm stuck with a swirling icon in the middle of the screen, unable to do bugger all.
Obviously others have had this too, how long has this been going on now?
It's really wierd, it tells me to test my network settings, and I do, and everything is fine, it connects to LIVE and everything all okay...but then I go back to the main blade and I'm signed out. So I sign in and it signs me in, leaving the swirling dashboard thing there forever.
Edit: Can't access xbox.com either now. Typical, I finally get a night where I can play and the damn service is buggered.Last edited by Jebus; 30-12-2007, 20:29.

Managed to get online for a bit, but it's just totally and utterly knackered.
Cheers Microsoft, what a BRILLIANT time for it all to all go tits up, Christmastime where everybody has some ****ing time off.
Oh and include me in the club of "Can't stream media" when offline, since LIVE is going crazy I can't even stream divx as I need a codec I've already downloaded.

Why doesn't it register to the console's serial number on the initial download with your main profile and what does it do differently downloading it a second time with another profile?
