I wouldn't rate Mirror's Edge that low, but having played 5 of 9 chapters I can really see why someone would. It is one hell of a disappointment in some ways and I'm interested to read precisely what it was they didn't like.
Fallout 3 I've only played through the intro, but the score doesn't entirely surprise me, nor people getting furious over it.As I remember Edge have always been indifferent to the Elder Scrolls games at best, which suits me fine, given I think they're some of the most tedious, characterless fantasy nonsense going.
I loathed Morrowind, no matter how many times I tried to like it, and much of the fan enthusiasm for it really struck me as "But I've just spent six hours picking flowers in a lifeless wasteland to mix alchemical potions, therefore if I've put that much time in the game must be good" etc., etc. And much as I liked the opening to Fallout it really did strike me as - surprise! - Oblivion with guns; same ugly, dated graphics engine, same ugly, dated interface, same clunky, dated gameplay. Maybe I'll change my mind some? But to begin with at least it certainly seems "good, but in no way great" material, doesn't matter how much pointless busywork there is or how many ohoho-so-amusing opportunities to be a dick there are.

The left for dead demo made me feel like there wasnt that much to the game, but I guess they disagree.
Fallout 3 is good but I wasnt overly impressed with it or anything so the score seems ok to me.
Resistance 2 just looks like the first one.
The Call of Duty World At War score seems the iffy one to me and no one seems to have mentioned it.
Also they must have fixed the mental camera with Tomb Raider Underworld or thats deffinitley not an 8 either.

call of duty world at war isn't even as good as cod4 so no suprises there i imagine it will go the way of cod3 hopefully and the nice cod4 community will stick around for a while yet
as for the mirrors edge review from playing the demo and from reading the text seems like an ocd sufferers wet dream

Different people will always have different views on games. We're just discussing it! I personally don't like Edge anymore as I often disagree with their reviews so their reviews have no value to me. Are GamesTM any better these days? I used to subscribe to them both and remember fondly the month that GamesTM gave Boiling Point a 9/10 and Edge gave it a 2/10.
EDIT: I thought the online in R2 was fantastic!Last edited by Brad; 14-11-2008, 12:16.

Was in both betas (closed and open) it was as clunky as hell, online is fine but the single player experience is well lacking. I loved the voice recog but its definetly not better than Fallout or CODWAW

Also having now played the game I can safley say its worth more than a 6 for the flamethrower alone, never mind the fact that the rest of the game has such brilliant set peices and is constantly so brutal and intense. Its a great game and i still dont care about the multiplayer.
