Have to agree with most of the ones poster here, they are all moments (of the ones I have played at least!)

For me I thought COD4 had some moments - not crying sad, just sad. Obviously there is the bit where

    the nuke hits

    and the main character

    ends up dying!

    .

Also the climax of the game, amazing last level, really awesome and then well it

all goes a bit tits doesn't it - all your squad get shot and die and what not.

So whilst you win it's a bit hollow shall we say!

In recent times, the dreams in Lost Odyssey are very moving. Not blub-worthy, but well-written little stories with perfect musical scores.

On the subject of films, I remember years and years ago getting *ahem* emotional when Spock got skanked in The Wrath of Khan. Nerdlo55!

My memory of it's a little foggy, but the ending to Panzer Dragoon Saga was pretty heartbreaking. It could have been that I was in my teens and just starting to 'feel ways about stuff', though.

Plus if videogame forums didn't go over and over old ground they'd be full of tumbleweed

Have I ever cried at a videogame? No I don't think so. Though a few have made me feel mild sadness. It doesn't help that the majority of videogame characters are still pitifully either Western or Japanese stereotypes - its hard to feel anything for a burly musclebound giant or a pointy haired cocky kid.

            Hear, hear.

I think that after FFVII, it suddenly became fashionable for people to say that they cried at video games. There's been all this pretentious guff about "emotion" in games ever since.

That said, I found the second Legendary Hero song in Gitaroo Man (and what lead up to it) to be quite touching. But no... it most certainly didn't make me cry.

It really depends on the person, some people can be dragged into a game so completely that they become attached to certain characters & end up feeling emotional attachment to them. It's the same with books & films.

I just finished The Darkness the other week and the ending made me well up. At just that moment a housemate walked in too and I had to try and keep it together. Hard times.

                  It's still MGS3 when Boss

Decks snake and throws him off the bridge

and when he finds out that

the government betrayed her and she accepted it because she was a soldier

also, the Song over the credits was as lovely choice.

Don't think I've ever actually cried over a videogame character's death but I did get quite upset over the death of

                      Paul Denton

in Deus Ex when I watched my brother save him, me not even thinking it was possible. I was to far into the game to have being able to save him and knowing that there I was something I could have done... What makes things worse is that it happened again (but not to the same degree) when he saved the

                      helicopter pilot

                      and I hadn't.

Final fantasy vi and Xenogears at various points in each game. They just kept throwing tragedy after tragedy at you and the music that went with each was heartbreaking.

I have to say - what exactly is so wrong about crying over a video game? It's like telling someone you're not allowed to get scared by a video game either.

"Oh noes, here comes Condemned 2 and Dead Space, I won't sleep tonight...."

                            Cowards.

Silent Hill 2. I got the Water ending first time through which is the saddest most depressing ending I've seen in a game.

Please let there never be a videogame version of Tarka the Otter. The non-interactive cinema version was enough. An interactive version would decimate me.
