Duuude! You are hard to please! I went into this thread thinking, "Wow this will be hard one to decide, so many AAA games"

You are of course free to have an opinion, and I in no way mean disprect with my comments. Just a but surprised!

    For me:

    1.) Operation flashpoint, 360

Without doubt the best coop game I've ever played. Sitting somewhere between milsim and FPS this game gives casual gamers the chance to take the walk in "Strategic shooter" park, without the need to be anal about why type of rounds to put in a rifle. The A.I, view distance and physical modeling of actual bullets combine to produce the most engaging, tactical and enjoyable game. Tactics such as covering fire work, A.I will react and duck for cover or even run away, allowing fireteams to flank and kill. The tracer fire and even richochets into the air combined with particle physics give a real sense of being pinned down, afraid to stick your head out. The game never plays the same, and now after 30 hours playtime I still feel compelled to play again & again. Sadly their are some bugs with the game, but these have not prevented OF2 from being my #1 of 2009. The PS3 version is significantly weaker graphically & is not included in my vote. I would also include this in the "Everyone should play but didn't" Section.

    2.) Uncharted 2, PS3

Simply a wonderfully crafted video game. The best single player experience I can actually remember. Inspired level design & artwork combined with distinct "Shooting, Climbing & puzzeling" sections make this a must buy for anyone. Visually remarkable and voice acting/story that makes other games attempts seem juvinle in comparison.

    3.) Killzone 3, PS3

The best looking shooter I've ever played. It's popcorn, it has difficulty spikes, but it is just so damn good. The devs set themselves an impossible challange with their E3 2005 target render, and to this day I still can't quite believe they managed. Awesome.

2009 will be remebered by me as the year that the PS3 delivered on it's promises & become a must buy purchase for anyone serious about games.

Ouch. Jungle Beat is awesome and even though it's a port, it shows how awesome this game is.

Halo Wars was probably better still.

Bayonetta, Blazblue, and Death Smiles stand out for me.

        I don't have a PS3 but I would've liked to play Demon's Souls.

I know for a fact my "game everyone should've played but didn't" will be Flower, Sun & Rain.

Not having a go or anything. I loved Donkey Kong Jungle Beat I just didnt think it was quite GOTY material, specially when it lost its awesome bongo controls. Still I'm glad it got a Wii release seeing as it didnt sell too well on the gamecube.

Hello, old thread, nice to see you again.

Eurogamer has their GOTY poll up on their site now; it has a nice drop-down list of this year's games which might prove handy when it comes to doing this year's NTSC GOTY vote.

There's been come brilliant game released this year and some real corkers released at the end of this year.

I've still yet to play trough Borderlands, Assassins Creed 2, Uncharted 2 and a few others so I can only comment on the one's that I have! The best of list would consist of Batman Arkham Asylum, Grand Theft Auto Episodes from Liberty City, Battlefield 1943, Trials HD, Forza 3 and a few others.

I think Batman is going to be my favourite for Game of the Year.

To be fair I don't own a Wii (any more) or PS3 so I only have access to PC and 360.
I've brightened up since Borderlands, Cod and L4D2 came out though

I see your point and also feel your pain. It was incredibly overlooked on the gamecube but did lose some novelty after removing the bongos. I suggested the game because it was a wonderful reminiscing experience for the loss of the gamecube and reminded me of one of my favourite gamecube games.

And I didn't take offence, everyone has their opinions.

So is the Ideas thread going to evolve in to the actual GOTY thread?

I can't pick my titles still. I will include Shadow Complex as I really enjoyed that, and it was different to other titles I played. Which isn't to say it's my most favourite game of the year, but it deserves to be top 3

I think Borderland is going to make my top 3 now. Biggest gaming surprise of the year. Has great gameplay, great humour (and I hardly ever find games funny), and it's sucked me in proper.

I'm thinking, at the moment, Borderlands, Op Flashpoint 2, and either Sacred 2 or Halo Wars.

                        Still loads sat unplayed though.

Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls and Wipeout HD are the frontrunners for me, I think, but then I haven't played most of the big hitters (no GTA IV addons, no MW2, no L4D2) as I've neither the money, the interest or the system to play them. No Wii games either.

Possibly AC2 following some way behind, but not really 10/10.

I'll go for ODST, with a side vote for Batsy AA (weak ending but superb game overall). Although Infamous came out of nowhere and surprised me hugely (I don't do your typical sandbox GTA type things).....

Still has to be Little King's Story. I've played many, many games this year on all formats... yet it's still very much Little King that has made me smile the most and feel that rare yet unforgettable sense of wow. With the exception of one minor issue (being the problem of the royal guard getting stuck behind obstacles, which, though in LKS's defense, there are ways around it and additionally the characters do reappear back into position after a brief time so isn't really an issue as such, but rather a small oversight), everything feels so natural, so seamless. I've always been a firm believer that its the little details that transcends a good game to a great one, and Little King is absolutely full of little details. Without a doubt the most memorable, originally envisioned and beautifully charming videogame I've had the pleasure to experience this year. It should be on everyone's to-buy list in my opinion
