If they award a trophy for that, it could be one of the hardest platinums out there for some!

People don't really expect this to be a handheld PS3 do they? That Wipeout HD quote has got to have some hidden disclaimers in it... there's no way technology has improved so much so quickly!

I recall they said similar things about PSP being equal to PS2, and that turned out more like PS1.5.

The word from developers is that it has ~50% of the raw grunt of the PS3 but it features all of its shaders. The NGP's GPU is probably more powerful than the PS3's (which is a fairly rubbish custom Geforce 7800), it just has a much weaker CPU.

It's not realistic to expect full on PS3 graphics but I expect some of the compromises developers take to be fairly hard to spot. More simplistic physics, slightly simpler models and a tad less incidental environmental detail.

DLC is downloaded onto the gamecard. I wonder if this is good new for the second hand market? Can we sell on games along with the DLC? or with pre-order bonuses? Will it put and end to having to buy codes to play online for used titles?

The DLC is almost certainly going to be downloaded to the account that bought it, so if somebody buys a copy 2nd hand they have no DLC available. Purchasing it themself may simply unlock the DLC that was downloaded by a previous owner.
If publishers want to be really clever/sly! they could make it so that if I pay for DLC, trade the game and eventually pick it up again in the future, I don't have access to that DLC unless it's re-purchased. I have a friend who is regularly purchasing & trading-in CoD during lean months!

OPMag has rumoured that a PS2 Classics section is coming to PSP via the PSN Store which seems stupid given it's an outgoing format. If there's any truth to it, it will no doubt be for PS3 and PSP2

Surely it will only be on NGP as PS2 emulation is still a difficult thing. Even then they will be ports that have to properly be re-coded.
I don't think there will be a way to simply convert games like you can with the PSP and PS1 games.

Although it's apparently very difficult to emulate it from what people have said in other threads there are ways of cheating a system to emulate PlayStation 2 games more successfully.

Bear in mind that if this service does happen it doesn't mean that PlayStation 2 discs will be playable on all PlayStation 3s, it means that carefully selected games will be available to download which will more than likely be hand picked for emulation.

Off topic but out of interest, according to gamesindustry.biz this week the 150 millionth PlayStation 2 was sold this year and it's still the best selling console in many developing countries.

They also claim 10,828 different game titles with a total of 1.52 billion copies being sold so far.

But it's not talking about PS3s. It's talking PSP and I don't believe that a PS2 game would be playable on PSP without some serious code rewriting. Has to be the NGP.

I know that they say PSP but it can only really be the NGP that a service like this would be for hence my comment that it doesn't mean a catch all emulator will be released which seems to be the suggestion elsewhere.

They could of course be multi-platform (NGP/PS3) releases which I'm sure Sony would like but I don't see them being anything other than what I mentioned if it was ever to happen.

It's probably all a touch irrelevant over here anyway as I have a horrible feeling that region locking could be involved and the UK will just end up with a load of Disney titles.

Yep, I imagine you're absolutely right.

Plus, OPM is missing the point in their rumour that even if the original PSP could emulate PS2 titles, it's missing two buttons and an analogue stick for them to be playable with... in fact the PSP2 is technically missing buttons still for it (I'd hate the rear touch pad to be used to cover L2/3 and R2/3. Shove it on PS3

                              Some brief videos from GDC.

Nothing particularly interesting, a video of the hardware spinning around like a...um, spinning around thing.

Again, nothing particularly interesting, some more AR stuff. This time turning a 2D image into a 3D model.

Yet again, nothing particu...FRIGGIN' HELL, IT'S SOME BRAND NEW UNCHARTED FOOTAGE!!!

Between the size of NGP and that control system I think it might be the first time I ever use a wrist strap.Hopefully the touch element is well integrated rather than just shoehorned in because it's there.
