Anyway, it appears that the Vita has not struck gold with the early adopters whatever you happen to think.
Yup, same here man. Were clearly on a different planet to everyone else...
Launch line up for consoles in general have never been great, I would say Vita has among the best launch line ups ever...

Mingol 6 is exactly the same as the five main games, and numerous spin-offs that came before it, so I don't really see how you can count that as a quality title. It's just a lazy effort to shift units. RR, is the worst launch version ever. Uncharted offers nothing new over the PS3 games IMO. UMvC3 the same. I am yet to try any of the other games.
I tend to take your comments with a pinch of salt, I shall continnue to do so.
tbh, what I've seen of Uncharted on Vita looks far less interesting than the PS3 games. Its being made by Bend, who are ofcourse no Naughty Dog at all. I'd be surprised if this one doesn't turn out to be the worst in the series. Wipeout looks worse than Wipeout HD Fury as well and Ridge Racer, well...
It might be unfair to compare handheld games to console games, but the Vita does seem to try to offer console games on a handheld more than ever.

but as I say good ol' ted and I are clearly living in a different universe.
It is more a familiarity thing. Not a lack of killer apps but more a nothing I can't already get on other machines for me.

I haven't played any of the Vita's launch line-up, so I can't comment on them, but what I will say is I would always prefer a console to launch with 1 or 2 must-have titles that a dozen 'might-as-well-have's. All down to personal taste I suppose, and in that launch list there may be must-have titles for others, but for me RR was always my main reason for wanting a Vita at launch, once I read about its shortcomings I cancelled my (import) pre-order.

You're not being fair at all for a number of reasons really . One it is unrealistic to expect a Hand Held that can fit into ones pocket to offer the exact same graphics to that of a current High end console that's something like 4 times as big, in just the same way it's not realistic to expect a laptop to offer the same levels of graphics as a desk top - mobilty does come at a cost
Also lets remember that Uncharted on the PS3 came out a year after the system launched. I've very sure in a year's time SONY bend will be getting much better performance out of the Vita and uncharted Vita will look basic . To me the fact that you have a game in the pam of your hands that is offering levels of gameplay and gfx to that of Uncharted is quite incredible, never mind right at launch on day one
but the Vita does seem to try to offer console games on a handheld more than ever.
Ridge Racers on PSP for the first time, it blew me away

I'm there on day one of the uk release for my son and I for two machines, two memory cards, two cases and plenty of games and it will still be cheaper than what some of us paid a few years ago for a ps-one or N64.
I cant complain about anything related to games of late, hell, even the prices are daft compared to years ago. We really do have it good these days, really good.

I'm itching for one of these. And though it's no issue to afford an inflated import price, my head these days just won't allow it when the UK model is so close behind. For the reasons of i'll get so much more for my money AND if something goes wrong with it, as a few have with this initial batch, i'll have a full warranty.
Out of interest for the import crew, I notice VGI are selling their units ?60/70 cheaper for delivery on the 29th, which I suppose is slightly better. Though a bit of a sting if you paid ?410 for one from them yesterday!Last edited by Colin; 24-12-2011, 20:31.

I'm not expecting similar graphics on the vita, but Uncharted Golden Abyss on the whole just doesn't look all that interesting to me. I am not even taking the controls into account, as I heard some importers saying the aiming was rubbish. I figure they will be updated if they are truly so bad.
As for console games, the Vita has this transfar and crossplatform thing going on and the launch with UMvC3, BlazBlue, Modnation, NG Sigma, Disgaea 3, DW, FIFA is very console ish. I don't like the 3DS at all and it started off as a port machine where OoT had to be the first must-have but things are picking up and Nintendo simply own very strong portable IP. Its a matter of time before Nintendo gets their slew of intuitive handheld experiences whereas with Sony I fear they fall in old habits again and deliver games I would prefer to play on the home console.
I'm mostly looking forward to Gravity Daze, its a new IP and looks cool. It will be a download only game in Europe. Digital is all fine and dandy, but Sony apparently opts not to release the 32gb card over here. Still, with the absence of manuals and lower prices for digital etc I might go digital only when the Vita hits my home.Last edited by saturn-gamer; 24-12-2011, 22:04.
