Hey guys, I've been contemplating which retailer is going to get my pre-order, but can't decide on whether I want the wifi or 3g version! I won't browse on the Vita, thats what my two iPhones (which are always on me) and iPad are for. So no need for Google maps and I could use the hotspot feature to tether.
However I can't help the feeling that down the line, the 3G would be useful for something? Also ?5 with the Voda sim would get Wipeout 2048. With the iPad, I'd never go for a wifi only model either but for the Vita?
Anyone share their views on which to go for? And I plan on importing a 32GB card off of ebay so any bundles with a 16GB or 8GB card (Gamestop and play.com) I'd probably sell off anyway, but does anyone think such a large card is neccessary (more for future proofing)?
Please help me decide in the next hour or so!

All 3G models in the UK though come with the sim card though so, right?

If you mean the free sims on the website, those are normal sims (packaging on the front usually has CGI Bee's) and the tariff on them are for handsets.
I'll check the tariffs on the Vita sims in the morning and post back here, as I think they have a unique tariff and the first top-up will generate a code for you to redeem in the Vita Store.
I could be wrong though

So with regards the NEAR function of the Vita, I take it because the non-3G model doesn't have GPS that NEAR isn't compatitble at all with it? Or is there some sort of manual-post code entry option - which you can kind of defeat/cheat the principle of it. Still deciding which model to pick up tomorrow, though given I'm getting Wipeout regardless, the difference between the two models is only about ?25/30, so I'm erring towards the 3G model.Last edited by Mr M0by; 21-02-2012, 07:31.

Q: What is “near”?
A: “near” is PS Vita’s integrated social networking app that enables you to check in to real-life locations and pick up or leave gifts for other gamers to find and use in their games. You can also locate and connect with your PlayStation Network friends and other gamers nearby for ad-hoc communication and multiplayer sessions, whether you set up lap-time challenges in WipEout 2048 or trade costumes with a competitor in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Using “near,” you can also see which games are the most popular and highest rated by fellow gamers near your location, which can help you locate new and interesting games..
”near” can calculate your location using a Wi-Fi location service; the 3G/Wi-Fi model includes GPS technology, which enables you to be the first to find valuable game gifts by logging into “near” via 3G with more precision…and no need to wait for a Wi-Fi hot spot!
