It would be interesting to see if they have a case against Fail0verflow. They didn't actually release the keys, just made people aware of how to obtain them, which is how Geohot got them.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sony can file him for extortion under the American law.
A bit dumb to offer your services like that. Its like 'yeah, I broke in.. and if you want to stop this you've got to hire me'. It depends on if Sony can sue him for breaching into their property. In essence they just figured the key out. I dunno how the law is going to deal with that.

You might be right. Looking at how Blu-Ray's AACS/BD+ etc. protection is in tatters, the reason no-one's been able to take it to court (aside from the precedent set by the previous deCSS lawsuit) is because no-one quite knows who to sue. Slysoft release updates to AnyDVD that crack the latest AACS/BD+ revisions pretty much on the day they are released, and they can't be touched because even if it was discovered how they are obtaining the keys, they're based in a juristiction where they can't be touched. Console hackers might want to learn from this.

I'd be a bit worried right now if I was releasing stuff, from past history Sony don't f*ck around when it comes to suing people, they put Lik Sang out of business as well as the guys at bleem, I think Sony actually lost that case but put that many lawsuits on them that it crippled them financially.

Now they've gone too far... too far I say!
I think it's great.
Now maybe Sony (or the hackers) will make a ****ing update so I can permanently disable them.
I cannot overstate how much I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE, having to see the trophy icon pop up in the corner of my game when I'm trying to get into it. DIIIIIIINNNNNGGGGG HERE'S YOUR GERBIL PELLET REWARD.
Really, I just want them permanently off, so I don't even know they exist. I bloody hate trophies.

I agree I'd like to see a way of disabling the pop-up, and I 'd like to see a way of deleting trophies you don't want - individually and for a whole game. I don't see them as pointless though - I find them rather good :-)
