Haha, true. I'd say half a gen was like the difference between a SNES and a Jaguar, or a 3DO and an N64, but I see where you're coming from with MD and SNES, mode 7 made big difference.

Still not sure if I`m going to buy a 3ds, was looking forward to it until I played RR which made me feel very sick and left me with blind spots. Had my eyes tested yesterday morning and I`m pleased to say my sight is 20/20.
Had a go on a couple of the splinter cell games with no ill effects.
Has anyone else had this?

Nope, sounds like you should just start off with the 3D turned off, then slowly increase it. Maybe it's motion sickness or some such, how are you with rollercoasters etc? RR reminds me of being on a rollercoaster at times!
I'd just get one, it's not just about the 3D! It sounds like you might need to turn the 3D down or off on stuff like RR and PWR, but should be fine with the other stuff.

I don't get motion sickness at all, maybe on a small boat once or twice but who doesn't. I love rollercoasters, planes or anything else that bumps me about...
My eyesite is bad, I wear contacts.
The 3DS aint for me either mate. Sure it will be better on some games but that isn't the point like.

I think the lighting in shops will be pretty bad for this, it might be better to try one in more natural lighting conditions.
I'd say the 3DS is worth getting even without the 3D, I'd rather play SSF4 in 2D I think, so it looks like the HD consoles versions rather than watching 3D toys/actio figures fighting it out, almost like that game R2D2 plays Chewbacca at in Star Wars.

Ahhhh. and relax. screen protectors applied without dust and bubbles. Always risky.
I'm really impressed by the surround sound and 3D in Ridge Racer.
I stuck a few mp3s on the SD card, and the visual effects that accompany the songs are amazing (just yank the chain to change the effects). The concaved equaliser is awesome.

With the Gamecube CPU, it was being used efficiently so being slightly off of that could be the equilivant of being significantly off the Cell in terms of real world.
Something that'll affect the NGP far more (in terms of matching the PS3) is the storage cost.

In 3ds news, I took it out into town and got a street pass miiDidn't expect anyone around here to have one on so that was a nice surprise.

still waiting for my VGP order, but had a go with my mates. 3DS in a word? Disappointing...
From SF4 and Pilotwings (the games I tried) the 3D effect is a bit hit and miss and with SF when pulling off a move i'd move the screen slightly but enough to ruin the effect. Pilotwings though did have better 3D and was obviously more suited to it, but graphically considerably worse.
As for the graphics... Well its early days but so far incredibly unimpressive too and the 3D screen seems really low res. To top it off the machine feels quite cheap and tacky too.
I dont know if ive been spoiled by my projector for 3D or iPad for build quality but the 3DS simply isnt what I had expected. I expect the NGP to better then this, else i'll just stick with iOS.
