?10 deposits from today, though no price, colours or any launch info. Apparently due to competitor activity it is launching. Odd.

Is it worth putting a deposit down?

Do you think there will be a shortage? I remember the original DS not flying off of the shelves where I worked at the time, but then again the DS brand is huge now.

It makes you wonder if Nintendo have really stocked up with these ready for launch and that's why they're coming out Feb/March instead of before Christmas '10.

Just read that it's got a 3.5 hour battery life and the same recharge time.

I really can't put a deposit down until I know the price and launch line up.

Yikes. Wasn't the original PSP better than that? I can't recall. Does make you wonder the value of portable gaming without some big advancement in power.

Surely the first unofficial accessories popping up will be larger batteries. I would have hoped for an average of 5 hours, not 3 to 5 hours...three hours to completely charge the battery sounds very long too. I hope Nintendo will provide an USB recharge cable with the unit and not only the cradle/power brick.

Wiki claims 3-5 hours for 3DS games, 5-8 hours for DS games. By comparison, the DS Lite apparently has 15-19 hours of battery life on lowest backlit brightness.

                    Japanese launch titles:

nintendogs + cats (three versions) [Nintendo] – 4,800 yen
Pro Evolution 3D Soccer [Konami] – 5,800 yen
Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D [Ubisoft] – 5,040 yen
Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (Capcom) – 4,800 yen
Samurai Warriors Chronicles [Tecmo Koei] – 6,090 yen
Tobidasu! Puzzle Bobble 3D [Square Enix] – 4,980 yen
Ridge Racer 3D [Namco Bandai] – 6,090 yen
Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle [Level 5] – 5,980 yen

Layton is the only title that I'd buy out of that selection to be honest

I expected Zelda to be a launch title to be honest.

From that list, I'll be grabbing Ridge Racer. Super Street Fighter 4 is tempting, but it's not the kind of game I'd really want to play on a handheld.

Maybe Zelda will be an US launch title. Pretty underwhelmed by the launch titles, nothing I'm really tempted to buy.

What a surprise, another Ridge Racer title on a launch of some new hardware? :P the line up is drab, really. Here's to something more exciting when it comes to the EU line up.

I have no complaints about a new Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer 7 was almost 4 years ago now... but I do hope it's not another rehash of existing tracks.

Rather disappointed by battery life reports. One of the great things about the DS has been that I'll always get a long time out of it without ever having to worry about the battery. I guess it's to be expected with more power needed for the graphics but still disappointing.

For Ridge Racer, I just hope it's more like PSP Ridge Racer and less like Ridge Racer DS.

Ouch! That launch line up is terrible. Where's Kid Icarus? OOT? Starfox? That's really put a dampner on my enthusiasim
