I can't believe how quickly this thing claps out due to low battery. Really is poor.

Agree with this as my main critisism. I have been playing with the 3D off for a while and still seems to go very quickly. I guess the wifi must use up the battery a lot as I keep that on.

EDDIE and Shozuki have voiced disappointment with it, but as people who've bought and paid for the console they're entitled to think what they want.

"Hater/troll" are strong words to throw about.

Clearly I wasn't just going on about people in this thread since I mentioned other websites, but you might want to go back a bit further if you think there's been no hint of trolling.

But Shozuki hasn't received his yet and is comparing it to much more expensive equipment, dunno what he can have been expecting, anyone used to the DS could only be pleased with the 3DS, and it'll have much better games than an iPad, which is what Nintendo are about at the end of the day.

Right, I've discovered summat else and I'm not sure if it's a problem or not. Anyone getting any slight smudge marks on the top screen after opening... This is where it's left a mark from the raised border from the bottom screen. I'm not sure if it's summat I need to worry about or owt.

On the other hand, I'm really enjoying the two games I got Pilotwings and Ridge Racer 3DS - Both got good 3D but I'm really surprised that the 3D on Ridge Racer 3D is better than Pilotwings.

On the other hand, I'm really enjoying the two games I got Pilotwings and Ridge Racer 3DS - Both got good 3D but I'm really surprised that the 3D on Ridge Racer 3D is better than Pilotwings.

It is at times, certainly, racing along tracks with high walls feels quite clautrophobic, whereas you don't get up close and personal as much with stuff in Pilot Wings. The diorams's are pretty cool though, you can get them coming out of the screen if you zoom in, though I found I had to hold it further away to focus on it.

Weird, I think the 3D in Pilotwings is much better. RR, I'm enjoying but really don't know if it justifies its existence.

Personally, I think the 3D is a game changer. It's a fresh novelty but I think it will have it's biggest effect after that novelty wears off. It's at that point that I think, rather than being all about the 3DS screens, we'll look at other screens and think, how flat.

Same here, it does seem a bit short, but still, I guess it's long enough not to be a major issue, not many people will be away from a power point for more than 2 hours at a time on a regular basis.

I could be persuaded to trade it in if and when a 3DS XL come out, if it has better battery life as well, I never upgraded my DS chunky, but then that has fond memories beyond just how good it is. And it had pretty good battery life of course! Though I seem to remember people complaining it wasn't as good as the various Game Boys.

The following paragraph is an update on what my Amazon experience was like feel free to skip it.

My Amazon 3DS never arrived today despite them emailing me late yesterday evening to say it would and apologising for not getting it to me on release. So far they have reimbursed me &#163;0.68! They split the package against my wishes as it was always listed as group my items order and by doing so made it impossible for me to cancel the 3DS dispatch on Thursday afternoon when it was clear there were going to be problems. This has also made them think they only owe me &#163;0.68 for the shipping when they charge me for the two other parcels they created by splitting my order. It's a bit of a farce really I had 4 telephone conversations and 2 emails with them and everything they said and did was wrong now matter how sincere their intentions. Having checked my original pre-order invoice I note that I had selected 1st class postage yet Amazon saw fit to change this to expedited, something else to moan at them about I suppose. Will be taking it up with them on Monday.

In the meantime I'm playing on the 3DS I picked up from Sainsburys on the way home on Friday it cost me &#163;197.00. I'll be looking to cash trade (&#163;200) in the Amazon one at my local CEX, hopefully on Monday.

As for the 3DS itself I'm enjoying it, I haven't been video gaming for the last 6 months so it was nice to dip back in and on something a bit different with the 3D aspect. As for my favourite launch title I'd say it's Ridge Racer followed by a title I hadn't even considered up until the end of last week.

Ridge Racer has taken up a lot of my time, I don't mind the visuals and the handling is great and overall it moves along at a fair old rate. The surround sound is great too. I feel like I'm revisiting the PSP version but with bells on.

The game I had poo-pooed was Ghost Recon I picked up a copy from Sainsburys earlier today as it was &#163;29.99. If it hadn't have been for a YouTube stage demo and Strider suggesting folks give it a chance it I probably would have missed out on a really nice gaming experience. But can I ask if anybody has experienced this? I had it happen 3 times during the same level all from the same save game point, I did eventually manage to replay from the same point until I cleared the level. I did have a SHDC card in my 3DS at the time so have defaulted back to the normal one just in case, though the link above suggests turning off the wifi whch I'll be doing if the error comes back. None of my other games have done this.

Other games bought and played are SFIV, PES 2011 and Pilot Wings, like them all but do struggle in PES to find space in attack and winning the ball back remains something of mystery to me, also the opposition run much faster than me even if I sprint?

SFIV more of the same but if 3D or 2D if you prefer to play that way, another game I'll never shine at but I've always like the Street Fighter series so had to get this really.

Pilot Wings, nice to have something like this to fall back to after a session on any of the above.

Also, if I get this line now, surely it would be even worse if I stick the screen protectors on as it would make it EVEN easier to get this vertical line...

Get those lines on mine too but i have protectors on so it's not going to affect my screen just makes greasy smudges on the protector so no damage really. It's not like it's gouging inch deep craters or anthing just an oily smudge.

I think people who approach it with an open mind will like it, but then you get haters/trolls who can't help themselves. I get the impression some people had a quick go just so they can that it's rubbish and a waste of money.

I've seen a couple of articles on websites that couldn't seem to wait to put their boot in either, the Eurogamer article 'Why does the 3DS cost ?230?' when nobody paid that much and they tried to make out Nintendo were making over ?100 per unit and majorly ripping us off, which was pretty poor journalism. And then an article asking if it was good enough to overcome the 'poor battery life'.

Basically saying does it have any redeeming features or is it just a complete load of rubbish it seemed... I didn't bother reading it though. It's a bit like with Lost, I'm a big fan, but some people have to hate on it as if fans are supposed to care what the haters think when in reality I have no interest in their opinions.

Mate, there is so much irony in that post that the irony filter on my PC is about to explode.

Sure, there are a lot of haters gonna hate etc.

BUT...you must learn to respect the opinions of others, not everyone is gonna like it. Live with it. Respect it. It's what makes gaming so interesting.
