Thanks for "trying" to make me look silly but where does it say they are poor? The word poor does NOT come up during any of the previews. The goalkeepers, even at this stage, are NOT crap. That is the point I was making.

It's like people want the game to fail and are reading stuff that isn't there. It just baffles me. I totally understand people being cautious but this is a bit ridiculous. Anyway, I reckon it is best for me to stay out this thread and keep my opinions to myself. Being negative towards everything seems to be the tone of this place these days.

        I knew you'd say that

All jokes aside, an unreliable keeper is a poor keeper. There's still plenty of time for improvement so I'm still hopeful. Besides, what teams are these people playing as? The video showed Germany v Holland I can't imagine either of those keepers are particularly great stat-wise so the better keepers in world football could indeed be more reliable

I'm just happy that we're finally getting a true next gen PES, and I'm optimistic about future iterations as well.

Loving this image. I imagine Messi with an excited american accent saying "Are you guys ready?!!?"

            Front end is looking nice.

I think that image is awful. Looks really childish with Messi appearing there like he is on my bedroom wall or something.

That said the whole menu system looks damn good though.

It's not about being negative, anyone who has read my posts here regarding PES will know how much I love it, how much I defend it and how much I still prefer it to FIFA. But last year and the year before the previews for the new PES have been just as glowing as this year only for the final game to be dissappointing. It's not about being negative, it's about being cautious.

I can see from the videos how much better this will play compared to any PES since the PS2 days, but it will all count or nothing if keepers are still letting in stupid goals. I actually really enjoy PES2010 and play it with a friend almost every week. But too often our games are decided by keeping errors and we're both fed up of it. The fact the game will play far better this year will make it doubly sickening if our epic matches are still being decided by GK errors that are out of our control.

That's that's the issue, CPU controlled keepers are deciding matches and all the tactics, formations and substitions in the world aren't going to help if a goalie parries a 5mph pea roller towards to penalty spot instead of catching it

Looking decent, so fingers crossed for a decent version this year.

Regarding the goalkeeper debate - lets be honest, the keepers are always prone to cock-ups in these games (Fifa included). As long as they arent too frequent though I can live with that.

As a PES player supremo. I find the keeper gripes from the past laughable :P

The art of defending needs to be mastered before you go pointing fingers

Seriously, I've seen keepers make some blunders in PES, but I can't seem to remember thinking that keepers in general are poor in any past PES games. At least they come out when you ask them to and stay back when you want them to.

                    Like marmite pointed out.

                        I hereby second this comment.

I think the problem isn't just that we feel we've wasted money on what we perceive to be a sub standard game but also the fact that whole swathes of the gaming media have fed us a diet of PR led BS saying PES is back for years, the backlash in some ways for PES is a double whammy against both factors.

I'm not going to express any opinions until I've had a pad in my hand as judging either game until you have is pretty pointless for the 2 footy heavyweights.

Yeah it's all common sense. Judge it, if you can, when you get a chance to try the full game. Be critical of the past let downs and of course approach with caution. The same press release spiel is going to be regurgitated year after year, because they're talking about the same game that has certain rules and can only talk about the same things being tweaked and improved, along with new stuff.

I'm in the same boat. Let down by Konami. Mostly play FIFA now as a result. But, I still want to see the game do well. I try to think positive about the game and after seeing what I've seen and reading/hearing feedback from friends who have played it, I am getting a bit excited it. However, there's people who like to have a little pop at the game without even playing it. Talking about things like poor nets. Scraping barrels. Willing another Konami fail behind a mask

Tell me when you last saw nets like the pes ones on real life though? I don't understand why they license the champ league then make it look so low rent.

...on something you have not yet played, despite almost universal praise from the press?
