They obviously consider me to be a premier player, and intend to send it out to me before coat-tailers/ EDF FATTY SKANKS like Kat.

Still another two and a half weeks until we get it. I am not amused.

Any news on the region lock? I have a Japanese 360 and the only reason I never got to play EDF3 was because it was locked.

I'm sure some people have been able to buy this from indie retailers in the US, hopefully some with a Japanese machine can check that soon. I can test out the PAL version soon as my pre-order shipped.

Jim Richardson, lead designer of EDF: Insect Armageddon, has commented on a number of changes made to the game, including the infamous disappearing corpses. On the GameFAQs boards, of all places.

Bloody hell, all I'm getting from his answers is:
Well, it messed with the online network play so we removed it/dumbed it down.

Weapons, explosions, physics, number of enemies, reaction of enemies, health, pickups, respawns, waypoints, general mechanics, basically the entire game from the ground up.

WELL DONE INTERNET - the obsession of the unwashed-pleb-in-the-street with online play has effectively neutered what could have been a great game.

                        I am very disappointed.

                        Comment

Poor excuse really. Once something is dead you don't need to network it anyway as it doesn't directly interact with 'live' gameplay elements. Just let each machine run it's sim by itself.

It's like the Marvel vs Capcom 3 devs saying they didn't put in being able to watch other matches while waiting in the lobby as the 'network lag from all the effects' would be too bad.

If you're having to network the spawning of effects, you're DOING IT WRONG.

Well I'm started to get excited for this, sorry!

I've just seen the destruction trailer and watched some co-op gameplay footage and it's looking suitably busy.

That Viscious Cycle guy said that the earlier footage was set to "easy" (normal) where the weapons do more damage and made it look like there was less smarming. I reckon he was scared to come on here and post, to be honest, he was really keen until page 6, when Prinny saw the first screenshots...

Metacritic is currently coming up at about 75 and some of the user reviews understand the series' appeal.
"First, if you're looking at this, you might have played EDF: 2017. If this is the case, you need to know that vehicles are fixed, spider webs can't hit you through walls, the mechs are worthwhile, you can revive your primary squadmates (and they can revive you), and there is online co-op. That should address all your complaints about EDF: 2017. Go buy EDF: Insect Armageddon now. If you didn't play EDF: 2017, and you want a deep game with serious business and artful stylings of a world yet unrealized, move along, nothing to see here. This game is the definition of stupid fun. 'STUPID' - There is no deep storyline, no emo characters wearing uniforms with a thousand zippers and buckles, no quirky sidekicks, none of that. There's just you, a few hundred guns, giant insects and robots, and cheesy one-liners just like a B-Movie. 'FUN' - You make stuff go boom."
I've just re-read this thread and Prinny's posts are like he's going through the seven stages of grief:

I'm resigned to the idea that EDF2 won't be bettered by this, so I'm going to accept it on its own merits, try to enjoy it, and hope that EDF4 will take the series where I'd like to see it go.
