Wii U is a new console: http://uk.kotaku.com/5809482/the-is-...sole-the-wii-u
The controller is the main attraction though so they're mainly talking about it.

I don't get it at all. It's a console announcement where they don't tell you **** about the console. They show a pad that looks like the worse designed pad since the Jaguar, will cost a bit of money, and give you hand cramp.
I usually get very excited about new console announcements, but all I know is it has a pad that will cost ?50+.
I suspect the specs are 360/PS3 level at best so that's why they're keeping quiet.

It's not just that they wanted to emphasise the new controller, they also wanted to de-emphasise the console. They wanted to make it as small a step from Wii to Caf? as possible, hence Wii-U: fully backwards compatible with software and hardware/peripherals. Which makes sense since they're not likely to start a new generation ahead of PS4 and Next Box.
I think they were emphasising that most people would only have one of those new controllers – that's why all the examples had four others playing with traditional remotes – and it comes bundled with the new hardware.
It would have been good for it to be a little more certain: baldly stating there's a new console. However, what could we have really learned from seeing videos of software that's already available on similar systems?Last edited by egparadigm; 07-06-2011, 17:48.
