On a personal level, I don't necessarily care about the branding, and looking at the mess that occured with Outrun and the loss of the Ferarri licence, it might be better to not have to branding. Saying that however, the Daytona USA series has developed cult status over the past 10 years, and this can really make games interesting to newer gamers who might have missed them first time around and want to see what all the fuss was about. The recent Treasure releases being a good example.

A console version would have a much bigger budget and it looks like SEGA saw sense and gave the rednecks their cut. I hope so anyway. There are always custom soundtracks I guess.

Sega Racing Classic had all the Daytona related decals removed and a different soundtrack. This combined with rushed emulation and LCD screens meant it lost some of its soul, and by all accounts looked worse than the vintage cabs.

8 player online is just fine by me, seeing as the original was up to 8 players anyway. Of course, a lot has changed since Daytona first came out so 40 players online would be cool from a technical standpoint but I just want it to be as close to the original as possible. Also, I quite like how you'd see the brightly coloured player cars among the purple AI cars. Not trying to shoot down anyone's hopes(I'd love 40-player online just as much as any of you) but imagine how long it would take to fill a 40-player lobby. Not to mention, I expect 30-35 of those to quit mid-race when they realise they're not going to catch up in time.
I'd also rather it weren't PS3 only, even if just for a while. I want it on XBLA

I just hope the handling feels right. I'd like a HD remake, as the original graphics won't look too good on an LCD. The online side of things needs to be rock solid too.
The Saturn version feels nice, but looks bad. The Dreamcast version feels bad, but looks nice. It's about time there were a perfect home version.
The original arcade machine still plays well - and I think even younger games who haven't played the original.. would appreciate why it's a fun game and enjoy playing it. I can only hope that Sega get everything right.
