The greatest golf games?

A genre which is full of dads and now I'm a dad, I'm feeling the urge to bust out Everybody's golf, search the eShop and wonder if 'A Touch of Nintendo Golf' or 'Let'sGolf 3D' will cut it?

Also, I suddenly feel the urge to discuss which have been your faves over years.

For me, my time line goes like this:

Pro Golf (a 1.99 game) - Speccy
Leaderboard - Speccy
PGA Tour Golf - Amiga through to Megadrive
Arnold Palmer's Golf - Megadrive
Golf - Gameboy
Neo Turf Masters - NGCP
Everybody's Golf (Minna no) - PS's

Unsure of Tiger series. I like them, but I sometimes feel I needed to keep playing to get better equipment in order to let the game let me do well.

My fav Golf games of all time would be

Intellivision : PGA Golf - My 1st gold game and really set the standards for most to follow and its still playable today

Master System: Golf Mania - A true classic and a gem of a game " Its on "

Mega Drive: PGA Golf III - Still for me the best Golf game ever made

CDI: The Palm Springs Open - Ok its so many issues and problems it was untrue, but it never stop me a few mates from playing it every time before we went out .

Sega Saturn : Pebble Beach Golf - Just plays a great game of Golf and the porn film style music cracks me up.

Neo Geo CD: Neo Turf Masters - Just brilliant

Neo Geo Pocket: Neo Turf masters - Not only one of the best golf games ever made, but one of the best game hand Held games around

X-Box: LINKS - Should have been better, but it played a great game of golf and marked the 1st time I ever played a Golf game on-line

HotShots Golf: PSP - Even better than Neo Turf Masters if that was possible

HotShots Golf World Tour: PS3 - the best next gen Gold game there is on any system

Leaderboard on the C64 was the first really stunning golf game.

Links on PC utterly brilliant though and I use to play online tournies with Mr_Moby and others. Got quite competitive with accusations of some using a ruler to aid their mouse "swings"

Like online PES 4, those were the days.

Actually, I missed Links out. Only played one PC version, but play Xbox version a bit. Twas good.

Wii Golf. No really. Made me feel like I was actually playing golf, nothing else ever has.

Agreed about Everybody's Golf - PS3 and now also Vita version.

I wish Nintendo would rustle up a full of effort golf outing for 3DS.

I feel the chances of that happening are slim these days. Or are they?

I'm not a fan of sports games but I'm partial to Pangya/Super Swing Golf.

Links 2004 - Xbox

By far my favourite golf game, endless hours were spent playing this til 2am in the morning with friends online. I've tried them all but no Tiger Woods game has ever come close.

I always feel like I'm wasting my life whilst playing golf games, however.

I know what you men, but online multiplayer is ace on Everybody's PS3 and feels like you're doing something that counts for the people of your family. MMO make me feel like a waste of space the most.

Tiger Woods 99 was where it got a bit unhealthy for me. When that came out, I literally spent the whole summer playing it in online leagues and tournaments. I was one of the best too. Good times.
