I don't expect a happy ending, but I would like an info dump.

The Suikoden I and II games are the best example I can compare to. In SII you build an army from several kingdoms to put an end to a war (collecting the 108 stars) and slay an evil general, and afterwards (although there are only 3 endings), you get a little rundown of everyone. It's a big info dump and leaves little to the imagination.

But that's just one complaint. My dislike of ME3's ending is multi-faceted. It's the vagueries, the lack of impact (which I've explained how it could affect the ending), and several other things.
Having a little coda at the end would have given people closure and while I liked the ending I can understand people wanting an ending that wraps things up (even if I personally feel it would go against everything the mass effect games stand for).

Ulimatley though if the above was done to wrap things up that still wouldn't mean your actions throughout the game had effected the ending anymore than they do right now. All you do still only effects who lives and who dies and that's the case wether there's a little coda at the end to wrap things up or not.

Fantastic article from Forbes, absolutely worth reading:
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (Photo credit: Wikipedia) Much has been made of fans "demanding" a new ending to BioWare's Mass Effect 3. The line we've seen drawn in the sand by industry and media types in the gaming sphere is that a new ending would threaten the "artistic integrity" of the [...]

The bit about artistic integrity is a good one. There really isn't any (or at least it's heavily restricted) with these big commercial games. Big games are more often than not compromises that must take in factors like budget, time, marketability etc. When an artist creates real art, there cannot be someone saying "okay it's done now" or "I don't like this part, change it".

A lot of good points made there. The devs have to answer to the financiers, and the financiers have to answer to what will sell. So surely following what the actual customers are asking for is the only logical thing to do (when they are asking for it pretty much unanimously and vast numbers).

They changed the bloody book didn't they? Pretty hypocritical if they don't also address the changes everyone is crying out for in the game.

hmmmmm that $1k would have been better spent on the actual DLC when it lands, or they should have frosted DLC on the cupcakes!

Yep - its true. when it comes to dev games. Sadly whoever the artist is - he still needs to buy his bread and pay his bills, so yes, if his art director or the art director's boss is saying no, then.... well... there is always an alternative. There has to be. It's naive to think otherwise.

                  So I finished it and

                  chose option 3, Synthesis

. I can't help feel short changed by the ending. Sure its awesome to

make that final choice and it took me about 5 minutes to choose

. The art direction on the final part was brilliant with everything playing out in front of you but still after the event I feel like......oh right, that's it? It started of promising when

My shep jumped into the beam

                  but then........is that it!?

What I would have liked would have been little bit sized sections of your main choices joined together in the ending. Someone already mentioned a Heavy Rain style ending and I think that would have suited better.

Looking forward to seeing what the new ending will be.

What if the true ending for ME3 is already on the disc, but locked in via timer? Imagine if Bioware made a fake ending just to mess with people's minds, but once 6 or 12 months pass from the date the game shipped, on your PS3/360, the REAL ending is suddenly attainable?!

What if the indoctrination theory is true? What if there is no DLC? What if Bioware is just creating a ruse?

This could bump sales up. In 12 months time, it would create fresh interesting in the game.

Quick! Someone boot their system and change the date to 12 months on from today, and see if anything is different in the game. Load it up, play about, see if my theory is true.

(I take no responsibility for buggering up your system by fudging with the time)

Finished it now and chose the

                      synthesis ending

. Really helped to ram home just how chronically stupid this complaint was. Nothing wrong with the ending at all, they massively missed the point.

Yep, the complainers really have missed the entire point, nice to see some people do actually realise what these games are about.

                            nobody loves me

Anyway, someone mentioned to me that the PC community datamined the entire PC version, and found absolutely nothing pertaining to secret time-locked endings. They did find the DLC extra character though.

Whew. Good to know that the ending isn't bad, everyone else besides rmoxon are just too dumb to "get" it.

Just like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull then.

I wish I had the intelligence not to be disappointed with the ending!
