Yeah update is nearly done for me 30 mins in. Spent all this time setting up with internet and the Gamepad. Now to play some 3 player Mario with the Wii-Remotes like it's a normal Wii lol
Edit: I was well impressed setting up my Mii from my 3DS. Just little touches like when your Mii jumps from your 3DS to the TV!

Of course it does.
The Wii U is a 'Video' game system, not a 'PC' system going into a 'PC' monitor.
The other names for limited and full are Video level and PC level.
It makes no difference.
This youtube video shows the issue:
And as I use a PJ the effect is heightened further .. 'Full RGB' isn't just for PC monitors!

Don't getme wrong it won't affect my enjoyment of the WiiU, but it should be a standard feature considering the 360 and PC's have had it for a few years now.

On that video, there is really bad black crush on full, so his set doesnt even support the full range. Looks like he had turned the brightness up on the right side comparison to bring out shadow detail and then said its was 'limited range'.Last edited by dvdx2; 30-11-2012, 13:22.

Assuming it isn't a hardware limitation I am sure Nintendo can fix it with an update, it's not a deal breaker .. .just dissapointing .. which when it comes to the WiiU is a word that get used a lot it seems!

Well, Ubisoft's total bull**** move with uPlay on Far Cry 3 sees me boycotting them once more which means no ZombiU, which in turn mean no WiiU. I was in Blockbuster earlier almost about to buy one. Haver fun chaps! Really wanted to use the pad on the Zom,biU game but it makes sense for me to hold off for the time being. I shall console myself with a game of XCom.

As anticipated I would have trouble connecting it to my Virgin Media Superhub but a quick google search "Wii U Virgin Media SuperHub" and selecting results in the last 24 hour I found this awesome guide. I've tweeked it a bit to help with my issues.
If this helps others it might be worth making it a sticky.
First log into your VM SuperHub settings on your PC and change the security to WPA-PSK(TKIP) (I kept my security passphrase the same as before).
Now on your Wii U settings:
1. Go into connection types, Hit "Manual Configuration" 2. Input your SSID
3. Input the correct security type, this is key. (this should now be WPA-PSK(TKIP) if you did change it to begin with)
4. Put your password in properly
5. For IP address "Do not auto obtain".
6. Open up cmd in your computer, type in ipconfig
7. Now input that IP address but add 10. My PC said 192.168.0.7 so on the Wii U I put 192.168.0.17
8. Enter the rest of your info inside such as subnet mask and default gateway exactly as you see it in your ipconfig.
9. Now hit next, hit configure now for your DNS. When asked about DNS hit "Dont auto obtain".
10. For the first server put in 8.8.8.8 (the console will generatate the rest of the 0 for you)
11. For the second server put in 8.8.4.4 (the console will generatate the rest of the 0 for you)
12. Hit Next, when asked about a proxy hit no proxy
13. Leave MTU as the default
14. It should work, if not check the IP and that it is the internet IP + 10.
Please note this guide is to help get your Wii U online. It may create issues with other devices connecting to your network. My Galaxy S2 still connected but I had to re-do my settings on my PC. Not tried PS3 yet.
I've had massive issues with wireless in my house and to be able to use TKIP id need to switch the wireless mode on my superhub to 54Mbps.... This lowers the wireless range in my house!! (and will make it slower for N Devices)
BTW TKIP not using 144Mbps is wireless standard so its not Virgins fault. (Although some vendors let you do it, Cisco etc) Also might be worth trying WPA2-PSK(AES) that way you can keep it on 144Mbps.
Looks like im going to get a LAN adapter for sure. Has anyone tried wireless back at default settings after they have updated?
Cheers for the guide will save messing about later.Last edited by djtickle; 30-11-2012, 14:20.
