How long is the 3DS going to last exactly? Are you honestly telling me releasing Mario/Pokemon on iOS and Android wouldn't print money for them? At this point most smartphones are a royal ton more powerful then the 3DS and are certainly capable. I understand that the Wii did extremely well last generation, but if you think history will repeat itself with the WiiU I urge you to look at the last 2 months sales figures for the console and compare them to the Wii's... Also, it's simple numbers really release their games on more systems more people have access to them and can buy them - I didn't think that point was too hard to grasp.

Lets quit all the negativity eh people, getting real old now.
So releasing a console in 2012 that's LESS powerful then the PS3 which came out 6 years prior and at almost double the cost constitutes as great hardware does it? And the SD resolution of the gamepad and resistive display is acceptable? Especially when we're all used to so much more... Don't get me started on the 3DS... You can get more powerful capacitive Android tablets for much less... Nintendo think we're mugs and we certainly are not. If your happy with that I urge you to re-evaluate value for money. Also I'm happy to stop being negative when Nintendo give me a reason too.

I do love my Xbox and ps3 too, you can't go wrong as a gamer owning a Nintendo and one of the others . As Nintendo offer something different you can't get elsewhere.
That's the point there's simply never enough games to play if you only own Nintendo devices. As for offering something different on the WiiU I'm not really sure what that is...

I sadly do own all the consoles that Nintendo release I do wonder why - I think I'm still attached to the Nintendo that used to support their machines (SNES, GB) As for next gen consoles vs. latest PC's they sound like they are very close (8GB GDDR5) plus they wont cost ?1000's that those PC's are...

Thats pretty much the way i see it too, suggesting that "value is based purely on the enjoyment" is kind of a cop out really....i can spend ?2k on a bluray player, does enjoying avatar on bluray make it worthy of that price?

Still i have always been a sucker for nintendo's games... although fewer genuine classics come out their doors with each generation that passes imo.

          Nintendo haven't made a profit in 2 years, haven't they ?

Didn't people say the same with the DC and X Box: Both consoles that used manily PC tech to power them and in most cases those systems games that had games that looked just has good (maybe better) that games running on a grands worth of PC's in their life times. In fact give me the X-Box anyday to a Pentium III G-Force III

A PC is called a PC for a reason and so it follows for the consoles ;They're really different beats meant for different markets ,even with todays PC's nothing can compare to the console for its ease of use or the fact that you know 5 years to 7 years down the line all the games will look and run the same on either your launch console, or if you bought the console 7 years down the line .

That is the positive and the downside of console gaming

In all seriousness why do you keep peddling this ****, the WiiU is not LESS POWERFUL than the PS3, get your head out of your arse and stop talking crap. And I would take a 3DS over an Android tablet any day of the week regardless of how much more powerful it is.

If you are so obsessed with power then buy a PS4 and be happy in the knowledge that your ?400+ console is the best thing since sliced bread, and that all the games will be better than anything else on the market.

You say your not a mug except you bought a WiiU so what does that make you exactly? We get it , you don't like the WiiU and you don't like Nintendo, so go back to your non Nintendo threads and leave this thread to the people who actually want to talk sense rather than the nonsense you keep talking.

So why do I have a backlog of Wii games going back to 2008? My 3DS backlog is starting to build now too...

I'll never get the whole resistive gamepad screen complaint. Have you tried drawing on a capacitive screen? It's like trying to wipe your arse with tinfoil. You can just about manage it but it'll be all over the shop. I wish I had a 10" resistive tablet purely for drawing.

Most people have a quick four hour doss on stuff, mark it 8/10, and then move on. In which case there is not enough to play if you own a Nintendo console exclusively.

I don't think anyone who calls themselves a 'gamer' would just buy Nintendo, you are not a true gamer unless you at least dabble in a couple of consoles and have played them for the last 30 years, not in my book anyway.

Well, until PlatinumGames announce anything for the PS4/720 (a certainty) I'm staying put.

Those are mighty strict requirements. Apparently I don't meet them, only being 27 years old.

That's right. You're not a TRUE gamer unless you're over the age of 35. Better if you're over the age of 40 or 50 though.

I love when people try to claim they know more about games because they're old

It's like saying you're not a gamer if you only play on the PC. To me it is defined by playing a variety of genres and spending a lot of your free time gaming, (especially if you take it online) that could label you 'a gamer'.

I'm out as well. I'm just 32 next week and can only play a couple of hours a day.

Its a fair thing to say .... Unless you have experienced every single generation of games you can't call yourself a true gamer. You can't have the complete picture of what is the games industry unless you have played games for all those generations.

People call themselves gamers because they have been playing COD for the last 5 years or so ... its pretty pathetic really, not saying they don't deserve an opinion but you cannot be a true gamer unless you have spent a significant amount of time playing games over various generations.

So yes I know more about games because I have playing them for nigh on 30 years.

The games industry is a bunch of suits selling plastic discs to demographics. I think very few of us really know anything about it.

                                Quite removed from gaming.
