Loved 3D Land and this does look great also even if I'm not sold on the muliplayer, it's likely to be a great game. Great a 3D Land was though for me the best 2D entries and the 64-Galaxy 2 games were a different league, there's just no way Nintendo can pass this off as the next true entry in the series rather than as a great side addition to the handheld based series. Like with the NSMB series, its going to sell well and be popular (and much better made) but most people playing it are going to be treating it as filler till a true full fledged Mario Galaxy 2 sequel arrives. Really, Nintendo should have at least teased the next Mario to take the pressure off this, if there isn't one in development and this is truly what is coming as the next main Mario game then whilst I'm sure it'll be brill to play, Nintendo will have made an incredibly damaging decision. I'm sure there is one set for late next year though.

The funny thing is, I am literally the biggest Nintendo fanboy out there - have been for years (probably should grow up... by hey ho) and yet I absolutely agree. This is the first time I've accepted that Nintendo have taken the easy route, equally with Retro... They are playing it way too safe for my liking, which is Ironic, because right now it seems they need the exact opposite.

Wasn't Super Mario Galaxy 2 a "by-the-numbers" sequel, and didn't really define anything much further than the first game did?
I'm just comparing SMG2 to SMG1, in the same way I'm comparing SM3DW to SM3DL.
Wasn't SM3DL great? What's wrong with a direct sequel? No one complained about SMG2 being more of the same.
