Well, whilst one Jim has his particular problem solved, this particular Jim feels quite the idiot...

So I go and purchase from the e-store (USA) and not really paying attention I just hit download and "yep, yep, download, whatever..."
and wondered why the free game options weren't free...

That'll learn me for not reading up about the promotion and actually reading the product description, in that i had to link my club Nintendo with Wii-U before I download. I've sent an e-mail to Nintendo support and doubt I'll get anything for stupidity.

its a bit of a jip you don't get stars with a wii-u console purchase

TBH though there is no real point as other than a couple of audio CD's and a Game & Watch game there is zero things to buy. The US store is so much better, you can get VC games and other stuff.. But as per usual Nintendo rips Europe off.

No ones getting ripped off, it's all free stuff your being given for points. They don't have to give you anything for free or offer any sort of loyalty points offers at all.

It's a fair point. Offering more in one region over another sucks. You should offer customers the same where available.

Yeah you will do

Once you download it go to the linked club nintendo account and look at the titles you've redeemed and your downloaded game should be there with a link under it telling you to do a survey

You normally get 50 stars for VC titles

I have a UK club Nintendo account, but a US Wii-U, if I register my MK8 will that give me a download for the UK or US store? It's been ages since I used my Wii-u accounts, so not even sure if this matters?
