Resident Evil 2 - Remake Confirmed

The producer of Resident Evil HD posted a picture on Facebook a few weeks ago, showing a picture of Biohazard 2 and saying he's going into a meeting to argue for funds at Capcom to remake Resident Evil 2.

It looks like he was successful and Capcom are going ahead!

I want closed off cameras and the atmosphere of the original game to be preserved. I'm guessing they'll go 3rd person free camera which could work but I don't want a focus on action at the expense of horror, which I'm worried will happen.

I bet that guy doing his own version is feeling mugged off.

They need to take the 'Resident Evil > Resident Evil Remake' template and apply the same ethos for how the RE2 remake will be handled.

The game has to be viewed from fixed angles, over the shoulder simply isn't Resident Evil.

The game should be bigger than the original, I'd like to see more of Raccoon City before arriving at the Police Station, lets have the first zombie encounter a playable event and a good hour of gameplay from the car crash to the Police Station.

I'd like to see every area of the original but with a more realistic attitude applied. Lets have a Police Station but one with a layout based in reality, lets have puzzles and challenges but not ones based on whacko gemstone/chrest architecture.

I'm genuinely excited to hear that after so many years Capcom are finally listening to fans.

It's nice that they're tackling it but given the work involved and the quick announcement I'm expecting a rush job. Hope not as it could be the best entry ever in theory

Pretty much my thoughts. Resi 2 in the vein of rebirth. We've already seen glimpses of what it could look like in Zero as it used a few of the same locations.

Am I right in thinking Resi 2 is better than Resi 1? If so how is it better? Just curious.

                  Resident Evil 1 = Alien

                  Resident Evil 2 = Aliens

                    Resident Evil 1 = Alien

Resident Evil 2 = Alien only with different main characters and a new creature.

I agree nice Analogy. Different types of films/Games but both brilliant in their own right.

Can't disagree more, Resi 2 was always more action based the the first. I think the analogy is perfect.

Really? I don't see it. More to kill, sure, but never got much more of an action feel from it than the first. To me, it was a refined, often more interesting version of the same thing. Aliens did not follow Alien so closely.

It is a spot analogy, even the game producer/director said the RE2 was action based back in the day in the EDGE special when it was reviewed

                              My analogy then:

Resi 1 = Night Of The Living Dead

Resi 2 = Dawn Of The Dead

                              Kind of.
