yeah that's the biggie innit. How would/quick could it cool itself? If anything, a nice bit of heat for those winter nights plus extra sweat for those sweaty palmed gamers.

Playing PS5 or Xbox on the Steam Deck using remote play.

I don't actually own a PC capable of gaming outside of the steam deck these days...

It's like doom eternal on the Steamdeck you can play it yes but its really not suited for the steamdeck it drains the battery in under an hour and just feels wrong when you've played this game on a big screen. My rule for handheld games is always the simpler the better theirs a reason why Tetris did so well on the gameboy it was the perfect game at the perfect time its like we peeked with handheld gaming back in the 80s
This is the other issue for me. I love the Steam Deck but admittedly I think the screen needs to be bigger... I really think a decent handheld device for triple AAA titles would be better serviced by a screen 8-9" in size. Not too big that it's hard to hold, but large enough that smaller details aren't lost.

I've used remote play on an android tablet which is 7.9" in the past, using a switch style controller... and really it feels like the sweet spot.

So I think this Sony device has got the size right, but not the function.

I use the PS Remote play app on my GPD WinMax2 (built-in controls) quite a lot with PS4 and it works great. Don't even need a wired connection anymore, whereas I did with PS TV and PS Vita remote play wasn't even a workable option, even on slow paced games like Life Is Strange.

Yeah that app is great, bought it on a whim when I realised the standard streaming option was locked to dual shock and dual sense controllers... It just works, no complaints.

For over 10 years Sony has been console warring in it's patent applications

Somehow I feel MS is going to use this against Sony in the Activisiona cquisition deal.

State of Play announced, with 20 minutes of FFXVI footage on offer.

I feel like I've already seen enough having watched some of the recent gameplay videos, and if you're not in the know then watch with caution as they are going pretty ham with the spoilers.

And they'll probably release a game before most of the studios that Microsoft has acquired!

PS5 has now surpassed PS4 for units sold in the same time frame as well. Pretty unbelievable achievement seeing as it launched in lockdown with majority restricted manufacturing globally.

Horizon FW Burning Shores dlc is out now as well.

The sales figures amaze me. Higher demand but a less deserving PlayStation by comparison so far.

You're not wrong, but the PlayStation effect clearly endures. Sooner or later, gamers will always want one.

I'm properly curious as to what is driving the demand. It's a cost of living market and a higher priced system that's had less out for it than prior PS's of note and almost has zero confirmed for it ahead of it either. The lack of effort Sony is required to make atm to achieve this level of sustained success of fascinating.
