Are you talking about remote play connecting to your Steam library or GP/PS Plus through Steam Deck (something I have set up too)?

Playing PS5 or Xbox on the Steam Deck using remote play.

I don't actually own a PC capable of gaming outside of the steam deck these days...

I think this is a case of just because you can dosent mean its the best solution, i recently picked up a razer kishi with a lightning conecter it encase my phone and makes it into a handheld with dual analogs triggers ect, i thought it would be great for games like genshin Impact but in realuty the screen just dosent feel big enough anything less than a switch screen size feels crap to me.

It's like doom eternal on the Steamdeck you can play it yes but its really not suited for the steamdeck it drains the battery in under an hour and just feels wrong when you've played this game on a big screen. My rule for handheld games is always the simpler the better theirs a reason why Tetris did so well on the gameboy it was the perfect game at the perfect time its like we peeked with handheld gaming back in the 80s

This is the other issue for me. I love the Steam Deck but admittedly I think the screen needs to be bigger... I really think a decent handheld device for triple AAA titles would be better serviced by a screen 8-9" in size. Not too big that it's hard to hold, but large enough that smaller details aren't lost.

I've used remote play on an android tablet which is 7.9" in the past, using a switch style controller... and really it feels like the sweet spot.

So I think this Sony device has got the size right, but not the function.

I use the PS Remote play app on my GPD WinMax2 (built-in controls) quite a lot with PS4 and it works great. Don't even need a wired connection anymore, whereas I did with PS TV and PS Vita remote play wasn't even a workable option, even on slow paced games like Life Is Strange.

Yeah that app is great, bought it on a whim when I realised the standard streaming option was locked to dual shock and dual sense controllers... It just works, no complaints.

PS5 has now surpassed PS4 for units sold in the same time frame as well. Pretty unbelievable achievement seeing as it launched in lockdown with majority restricted manufacturing globally.

You're not wrong, but the PlayStation effect clearly endures. Sooner or later, gamers will always want one.

I'm properly curious as to what is driving the demand. It's a cost of living market and a higher priced system that's had less out for it than prior PS's of note and almost has zero confirmed for it ahead of it either. The lack of effort Sony is required to make atm to achieve this level of sustained success of fascinating.
