    Shrugs.
Well there is also what's happening on the other side of the fence. A console that's struggling in the desert of zero games.
'But stuff is coming...' isn't a defence, because stuff is coming on the PlayStation too, and has indeed been delivered. Xbox is about to put out an exclusive that's struggling to hit 60fps, it doesn't paint a good picture.

I like to dig into ideas about the specifics, is all. No doubt you need good hardware, good games, and good advertising but it's the details of how you deliver each of those successfully that's the interesting bit.

      Yeah, here you go:

No, there's no reason to keep a PS4 Pro once you get a PS5.

It’s obviously more complicated than my initial statement but that’s the general gist of it. Sony have also been poop hot on cultural changes and keeping relevant each generation, i mean how many people played wipeout before clubbing when PSOne came out?, Their dev pipelines are also shockingly effective at getting games out the door quickly and to a high standard. All knowledge built up by learning from mistakes.

"Yeah 'PlayStation' is the name for gaming. It's synonymous.
Everyone had a 'PlayStation', then everyone had a 'Wii' , now everyone has a 'PS4 and/or Switch' again.
With 120m ps4s out there, if you are looking to get a new console you'll buy the one with all your back catalogue on and the one you can carry on playing with your friends."

Ha, year the Wii really sneaked in that gen with bonkers numbers and made everyone second place. Switch has somehow done it all over again.

Outside of the marketing photographs/articles probably a lot fewer than you'd think.

I'd think most of them would have a PS2 around the time the PSone came out.

Time to go through PS5 pad repair crap again, had the same pad replaced in sept 21(7 months of use back then) and now it's now drifting again, have to see what sony support say about it being out of warranty this time, it's only lasted longer this time due to have 2 pads to swap in and out. Paying £50+ for something that is guaranteed to break in under year still gets under my skin, and it always the ****ing analogue sticks drifting.

PS5 doubles its global sales figures in 12 months.
Sony becomes the first games company to sell a total of 500m home consoles
PS5 sales are speculated to be double that of their closest rival

I wonder why that is... ?

New $69.99 price may negatively impact PS5 game unit sales, data suggests.

You don't say. Almost like putting prices up during a global recession isn't a good thing.

You’ve had some real bad luck with your pads, what kind of usage are you getting per week?

1 to 2 hrs a day depending what the 3 games i play on the regular need grinding (genshin, apex, Dead by Daylight) and of those 3 i would say only Apex is stick intensive. It's always been a problem with sonys analogue sticks from Ps4 onwards, only joypads previously that had big play times and failed where my wired 360 pads (used on PC and 360 during that era), the cable would just stop working after good 2-3 years but sticks where fine.

I'm on my 3rd. The black one is getting on for a year old so it'll probably **** up soon. The quality just isn't very good.

I wonder how long they'll continue to sit on those inflated game RRP's. You can't self-own more as a hardware maker than intentionally ruin your software sales. If they drop them back down to normal their position in the market will be more insane than it already is

How many people are paying £69.99 for games, any? I haven’t even seen online retailers going with that rrp, which is all it is, recommend retail price. Basically all it’s done is bump the norm up to £59.99. Which is fine for some games that you know your going to get to get your money’s worth from, obviously not for indies etc. However, I’ve found the game prices pretty sensible this gen, you only have to wait a year and prices drop massively once the launch hype dies down.
