For free no, for a payment yes, these pads aren't cheap and we the customer should expect decent customer service on expensive equipment.

Fair enough but Sony have never offered a repair service for controllers. Maybe they need to now given how complex and expensive they are getting.

They should do really yes. It's not fit for purpose, warranty is irrelevant; that's in addition to your rights. It's reasonable to expect a £60 game controller to last at least 3 years. I'd contact the retailer (not Sony, it's nothing to do with them). Worth a try.

EDIT Unless Sony was the retailer

Have to admit, this one is disappointing to me. I utterly adored Concrete Genie.

Unfit for purpose is applicable when it doesn’t work out the box, or is a fundamentally broken product that doesn’t work for its intended use. Like Halo Infinite, if you don’t have internet the disk is a cup coaster, or a knife that has a flat edge and doesn’t cut.

His controller DID work, it just broke, which is crap but it did work for over a year.

That said, durability definitely needs to be looked at on the DuelSense long term.

Good luck getting most retailers to do anything about a faulty product that's outside it's 12-24 month warranty period. Even after 6 months it's technically a case of

"Six months or longer: You must give the retailer one opportunity to repair or replace it before you can claim a partial refund, and the burden of proof is on you to prove the product is faulty."

Although most retailers will attempt a repair or replace if it's over 6 months but still within it's manufacturer warranty without consumers having to prove the product was delivered as faulty or had an inherent fault out of goodwill/convenience, so it's worth a try but I'd be amazed if the retailer would do anything once it's past 12 months for the PS5 controller.

I’ve done this multiple times with many products. It requires effort and time and often ends up with a small claims court or similar but in every case I’ve got what I wanted before it actually went to court. Most people cannot be arsed to do this though and I get it.

My aunty was one of those that practically lived at the small claims court.

Most times if you start quoting the Consumer Rights Act and your rights to a repair or refund, they'll give you what you want. No one wants to argue with someone who seems to know the law more than you.

I notice you can now buy the PSVR2 headset from retailers like Amazon and Argos.

Didn't see that announced anywhere (might have missed it) but good to see. That also means you could now feasibly buy it with MS rewards credit... it's a wonderful and weird world!

If anyone can game the system to get a free psvr2 from MS points it’s definitely you Nonny 😂

For anyone looking for a 2tb gen4 ssd, this was posted on hotukdeals today, I normally wouldn’t buy from a brand like this but people have been using it in their ps5’s with zero issues, so an absolute steal at £76.49.

Even at the original £84 that's pretty good.
