And to be clear here... the same applies to Xbox in equal measure... which is why I want to see less Forza and more Indiana Jones.

Give me something fresh with no prior expectation.

I think when Sony does announce something new as a major game it's still draped in the not new vibe. I know nothing about Wolverine but I'm, already semi-disinterested in it because I feel I can picture it in my mind.
Spider-Man is decent but in most ways it's effectively just a modernised update of the Spider-Man 2 game. Insomniac took their lead from a prior interpretation and added the Sony AAA third person bells and whistles to it. Fuelled by that success I fully expect Wolverine will follow the same model, taking some inspiration from the well received Origins game for its combat and making it more of an over the shoulder third person title... probably with a mouthy sidekick or two.
They're not at all alone in their stagnancy but with Sony I have the distinct sense they're getting worse whereas the others have a road to improvement... maybe. The big three used to be the stars of the E3 period but these days they're close to being the least interesting.

I feel like Sony were absolutely ferocious on first party last gen. They took big chances that (mostly) paid off handsomely. This gen is a bit of a victory lap so far, which is a shame.

It's a very smart play but equally it's zero risk. They're comfortable now... so now I want them to push out of their comfort zone and do something crazy.

They need to be some big news For PSVR2, its a pipe dream but Backwards compatibility could go a long way to filling the gaps in its library, a software level fix to fool the ps5 into into thinking its using move controllers or a ps4 pad would be a quick and dirty fix, or maybe Sony could invest in the platform for a change and have a team adding games to PSVR2 BC like Microsoft did with its BC team. Rolling out a few PSVR BC games a month to PS+ premium would be a lot more of a perk than old PS2/PS1/PSP games.
Whats more likely to happen though is at the most we will get some big fanfare around the PSVR2 version of Beatsabre with a £15 fee to upgrade your psvr1 version and maybe if we are really lucky an announcement for A new Blood and truth or Astro Bot VR.

We should see at least one notable first party title revealed for it.
I'm still trying to really hold back when it comes to PSVR2... I feel enough time has passed though that it's become pretty obvious how everything is going to pan out with it and how support will be, which will be weaker than PSVR1

The early (and still now mid) life of the consoles has been disappointing in content but they've been high demand, rapid update, news focused, widely discussed things. PSVR2 very quickly slipped into silence to the point hardly anyone even realised it was moving to being retailer available. Even though it's a peripheral it needs to operate as a platform in of itself because its line up is bespoke to it and to be a big ticket, unique USP device for a console as insanely popular and socially present as the PS5, it's clear, it isn't going to suddenly explode into life with the public.
It's an undoubted shame, I wish VR would crack that nut and become as established as standard platforms, but from pre-release to post-release Sony's approach reeks, absolutely reeks, of mid-life Vita. It's frustrating as Sony is probably the best placed company to make it viable, they are just so bad at handling hardware outside of the main console line. I feel they'll show their hand this summer with their reveals and I'm feeling pretty confident this will be their last VR venture.

VR will never be like that, it’s too closed off to the user of the device. Unlike a console on a tv, or a handheld even, where people can look on and play with you. It’s also an expensive extra on top of your gaming system, so there’s also a big price barrier.
Also, it makes a lot of people nauseous, which is also a big issue.
