Factoring in the 3 month bundle cost and change in rewards the next month earnt would be when I hit 71,000 points, 1,000 less than normal so that offsets the last attempt so I'll see if the next push verifies the fastest possible for points accrument
Welcome to the last 4-5 years of my life... this is how I bought most of the new hardware. Not outright, but heavily discounted.

I really wish Sony had something similar to this. I now the Nintendo eShop gives you a little back for buying digital but it's nothing like the MS rewards system.

I know everyone talks about game pass, but it's underpinned by rewards.

Absolutely, it's something of an obsession at this point and I used all my points to get the anniversary controller in December so it's taken a very small amount of time to rebuild the points back. It definitely ensures the Series X is used every day and that I play 100% more Halo Infinite mp than I would have but it also governs my approach to Game Pass and the system too to a degree thanks to the hoops you need to jump through.

I've bought the official wireless headset and Elden Ring this year with an outlay of just £15 on top and I'm already back to 22k in points (£15) thanks to hitting the March monthly quest and hitting a 70 week streak which nets you 2,500pt.

I really want a 1tb expansion card next but can't justify the RRP on that so might just buy a controller to sell on and convert back to real money.

To say I'm obsessed is an understatement!

37,000 points from a late December start.

Have switched to Edge browser on my mobile and Bing as my search engine too

I'm definitely thinking of copying Nonny's approach to this. It's 59,500 points for £50 of MS credit so around 2-3 months work meaning you're looking at around £200 per year being built up. You need Game Pass to achieve that but as 3 years of subscription costs not much over £100 using the Gold trick it means a spend of £100+ could net £600+ back in the same timeframe. With GP covered it means using the points for credit against hardware seems the best option.

What are these points you guys are always going on about? Is it possible I've been racking up points without knowing it?

Theirs an app called Microsoft rewards that you can access via the xbox with tasks to complete, their quite simple things like play x game or log into the phone app 3 days ect, you have to click claim so i doubt you will have built up points not realizing. You also can access a different set of tasks via your xbox profile too with daily weekly and monthly tasks.

Their is also a website with pc based rewards but their nowhere near as generous as the stuff on the xbox, completing tasks on the above feeds into your points but where as some xbox tasks give you 500-1000 points for doing not much, the web thing is more like 10-50 points a task.

Yup, the most likely accidental method is being logged in whilst browsing the internet via Edge/IE etc. Spotted over the weekend that the missus is on 4,500 points and she wasn't even aware she was logged in

Like I said a few times previously, using these rewards points and also a few gift cards, in the last few years I've bought:

Xbox Series X (£280 in rewards, the rest in cdkeys credit)
Xbox Series S (adding £80 credit from work Amazon vouchers I had)
                    Official Xbox Wireless Headset x2
About 4-5 games when discounted or contributing to more points...

This whole rewards system doesn't feel like much but it really adds up over time and there is nothing quite like getting a console for almost nothing.

With the headsets I sold one when I was saving for a PS5 and then bought another later.

You guys have got me signed up for MS rewards now. I've got 192 already. Only another 200 years and I should have enough for a game.

The amount of hours this takes you could just stack shelves and earn it in a week part time.

But I can do this from my console/phone whilst playing games... It's just a beneficial by-product of using the services by reducing the cost of buying games and hardware in the store.

Apart from the bing search faff 3-4 mins a day the rest I earn during my weekly gaming time.

you don't really have to do much to get rewards its a passive thing while playing, things like (play a gamepass game, check the xbox app three times in a week, or install a game via the app are all things i do on a regular basis anyway, so 30 seconds of my time after i finish gaming for the eve to claim my points is hardly the same as stacking shelves or getting a second job,

Its a nice little bonus for playing and buying stuff on the xbox. for example if i buy Elden ring on xbox i get a fiver worth of points for playing it on that platform that i wouldn't get on PSN, just for clicking a button and earning an achievement. if i bought it it digitally i get a % back in points similar to how the Nintendo gold point thing works.

Thanks man. I had no idea about this but then again that's not surprising since xbox is basically dead here. I'll have to jump on to this point system. Sounds great.
