Spencer repeats an old trick and uses his shelf to reveal the Keystone streaming based console SKU that until they give an official name I will refer to as the Series E because they've used E class before and put together with S and X it equals... Fun

https://www.eurogamer.net/fans-think-phil-spencers-shelf-is-teasing-the-xbox-game-pass-streaming-boxUPDATE 11/10/22: Xbox has confirmed that the device on Phil Spencer's shelf is an old prototype for Keystone.
Xbox suggests it's merely an old prototype
Seems a daft pandora box to open

That said I still don't see the point in this device when even now you can pick up a Series S with a controller for £150 second hand.
Unless this is super cheap I don't see it as being required for home use.

But in the home? I think just pay a little more and get the Series S which does this and allows normal installs etc ...

I will say, I've just tried streaming via Edge on the Steam Deck yesterday and that was pretty amazing in terms of hiding the latency.
I know MS have embedded some game streaming upgrades directly into Edge so they're definitely working on mitigating the inherent limitations... but still you look at pricing and if this was even £75 I would still suggest anyone playing at home to save up and get the Series S instead.
The Series S is seriously the smartest move MS have made in the hardware space this gen. It's only real limitation is that 512gb onboard storage but you forgive it because it's so cheap.

Yeah, it's hard to see a situation in which this would be a better buy than a Series S. I'm still intrigued by the possibilities though. You could foresee another potential offering where the hardware is distributed for no upfront cost to those who agree to a year or more of GPU on a monthly basis.

Thing is a Series S via all access is £20.99pm and a Series X is £28.99pm. This would be less would probably be £4.99pm or even less.

Yep I could absolutely see this being the basic tier for All Access. Can't really see it being £4.99 per month though since GPU on its own has an RRP of £10.99 per month (or it will be, once they finally decide to close the door on people doing the £1 trick, which must be coming sooner or later - although hopefully not before I buy a Series X for Starfield).
Realistically I agree with you that this is a hard sell when the Series S exists. That machine delivers a ton of value for its price.
