Better the devil you know though... They already said they were going to work on taking away the always online requirement so with this news they should take the pressure off and bake in that update and performance mode.

PC is getting 60fps, but it doesn't fill me with confidence it'll be any good. If they are struggling to get it optimised on consoles, I suspect PCs will be required to brute force it, which never ends well.

I've not played the Dishonoured series. What is the difference between those games and Redfall? Is Redfall a much more open world and so that may be the challenge for the devs?

Personally, I just don't think 60fps has been a priority for them. As is always the case these days, the game isn't a visual showcase kind of game and I think broadly the mindset for console devs is that 30fps is the main target. If they have time and ability to get a game running at 60fps they'll add it later but I doubt it's a priority and in Redfall's case it probably came in at a lower priority to other matters. It's going to become increasingly common though.

Yeah big difference. This is open world and 4p co-op which is where I think they are struggling, where Dishonoured is single player and a lot more linear in open levels.

The issue I have is that they've had a year delay and now, 3 weeks from launch and off the back of trailers and hands on time with the game running on PC at 60fps they drop this bomb shell and expect everyone to find it acceptable.

I'm hugely disappointed, not in the news itself but in the manner in which they have delivered it.

30fps lol. Although "60fps on pc" is always a bit of a weird claim. What PC do you need to get that performance? All PCs are not created equal.

I doubt this is going to be able to be qualified with any kind of meaningful and/or verified details, which means that my being sat here foaming at the mouth is even more futile than usual. There is pretty much universal praise for the game, and if it's underperformed I would argue until I'm blue in the face that it is because it was "shadow dropped" (pass the mouthwash) directly onto a subscription service.

Lastly: I really hope that guy is at least being paid to wear a Manscaped shirt on a podcast appearance.

Yep, it was a great surprise but the nature of the reveal and release makes it easy to imagine most dove straight into their subs to download it for nothing whilst general audiences skipped it by thanks to the lack of marketing awareness.

Given the theory that Denuvo is useful because most sales take place upfront, I wonder if MS needs to step back from Day and Date GP releases.

I feel like it massively undervalues games, i wouldn't spend money on a game on game pass that i could play for free. If we aren't careful we could end up with a race to the bottom like we had with the mobile gaming market where predatory practices and full video ads every few minutes become comon place.

I am deffo an Xbox GP only user. Is this quite common now? Could this scupper things for MS in the future?

It's a complex situation, but ultimately, if this news is true, its all on MS. They own the whole service top to bottom. If the game didn't 'Sell' enough, it's their fault.
It launched on GP with no hype or advertising. Being on GP means people aren't going to buy it, or they'll wait until they get GP, or they'll wait for a sale. And that's if they want to get the game at all.

I tend to just use GP for a month or 2 at a time now. When I'm not a GP subscriber I play games I've bought like FH5.
I only use GP as a trial for games I want to try. If I like a game I'll buy it when it goes on sale.

I didn't like Hi-fi Rush at all. Visually it looked great, but hated the gameplay.
