ExoPrimal beta is up - had a group of friends who were keen and was ready to actually play a game of a Friday eve.

Downloaded the PS5 version to find that the crossplay they'd talked up wasn't in the beta, and then re-downloaded it on the Steam Deck only to find it crashes immediately and can't even make it to the title screen.

Bummer.

It's not the full 40K experience until you pay more than a 1000 bucks on manuals, miniatures, and props only to spend twice that as rules have been completely revised, units completely restyled, and none of the old stuff is accepted in tournaments.

To be fair if anyone's games can be made by an AI at this point, it's Ubisoft's.

Some of the forthcoming Unreal Engine tech is incredible. They’re really focused on making it quicker, easier and most importantly cheaper to create and iterate on assets.

Feels like UE5 will end up like a stepping stone. With them talking about expecting UE6 arriving in the coming years and developers proving to be reluctant to move on from last gen, I'm almost expecting UE5 to see relatively small use this gen and UE6 be more of a finished article.

The tools, especially around tailoring procedural content sound like a really good idea. The Hellblade 2 demo felt like a pointless addition though
