    The suicide squad, indeed.

Surely if we just pump out enough free to play crap, they think, one of them must go stratospheric...

Warner Bros are to focus less on the types of games they've had success with and instead double down on the areas that they've had unmitigated failures in because that's how WB rolls
Hahaha, wow, just wow. I wonder if they really want to ruin the company.

Perrette said WBD's recent gaming output has focused on AAA games for console, and that's great when a game like Hogwarts Legacy sells 22 million copies and becomes the best-selling game of the year, but this kind of success is never guaranteed in what Perrette said was a "volatile" market. He pointed out that one of WBD's latest big games, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, was a disappointment for the company.
Hogwarts wasn't a fluke they took the subject matter and made this rich vibrant world, they played to the series strengths, and it paid off, they made this wizard playground and a massive version of Hogwarts and the surrounding countryside to explore and discover. Whereas Suicide Squad ignored all the characters ability and their lore, made it so that everyone pretty much has the same skills regardless of if they are a female human or a giant shark, and added mechanics that made no sense like everyone can jump 100 foot up into the air like Super Mario on steroids. shoehorning in Gass to this mess was the final nail in its coffin.

It wasn't like they didn't have any warnings either it's been dumped upon since it was first seen in that Sony showcase and anytime anybody played it they got overwhelmingly negative feedback, even from shill publications like IGN that will hype anything where dumping on it.

Not so fast Epic, Apple delete their dev account so they can’t publish their own store, brilliant stuff.

Tricky old apple, can't dev if you don't have a dev account.

This reminds me of the Sky and Virgin battles, Sky had some massive exclusive show they would put on a channel not available to virgin court case ensues, court says yeah you need to offer that channel to virgin, sky dose but then launches a new channel and moves all its best exclusive stuff over to a new not available on virgin channel and the cycle continues.

They should get absolutely stomped by the EU on this. And the thing about the EU is that they will actually take action on these gatekeepers, unlike the US.

If Epic want the keys to the kingdom then make your own devices and hardware, and software, and store, and infrastructure and do all the work that comes with it, otherwise F off Epic, the garden doesn’t need you in it anyway.

The gatekeepers like Apple and Google have to be disempowered by regulation in order to create fair digital marketplaces. They control monopolies that other companies, no matter their capitalisation, cannot hope to compete with. It's not realistic to say to oppose Apple's marketplace rules you need to create a smartphone platform comparable to iPhone and Android.

It's exactly the same reason Microsoft was slammed in the 90s and 2000s for anti-competitive practises by the EU. Because it's not realistic that anyone can create a product which meaningfully competes with Windows for global PC marketshare.

Epic Games has a valuation of more than $30 billion. They could build a hell of a lot if they put their mind and their money to it. Let's not fall into a trap of thinking it's a David and Goliath situation here. It's Aliens vs Predator.

And Microsoft has a market cap of 3 trillion. Yet they don't have a smartphone platform. Because taking meaningful marketshare away from Apple and Google is a virtual lost cause.

I'm no lover of Epic. But Apple's control of their ecosystem requires regulation. It was fine when it was all calculator apps and ones that make you look like you're drinking a pint, but now that smartphones are part of the fabric of how the world works, way, way, way too much power is vested in their hands for them to be able to say 'You're not allowed on our platform because we don't like you' - which is pretty much what is happening here.

Rooster Teeth shut down by Warner Bros. The podcast will continue, but apparently WB are looking to sell that off as well. I honestly don't remember when I've last heard of Rooster Teeth before this.

A pioneer in digital content creation is going away. Rooster Teeth, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery, is ceasing operations after 21 years.
