    QC would've used "you're", 100%.

A prankster, yes, but a grammatically sound prankster.

It's a side scrolling 2.5D Mario, we've seen all we needed to see in the first 15 seconds of the trailer.

They probably don't want it to take up 10-15mins of the regular September Direct.

Still, it's a bit early. We're seven weeks away from launch.

Don't tell that to me. Tell that to Nintendo.

15 minutes because they want to save themselves for unveiling the Switch 2 days before the game launches... people on Era can't be wrong yet again, surely?!!?!

It would be madness to announce any new hardware this side of Christmas

Yep, I think it's the assumption that they'll copy the approach they took with the Switch but it doesn't put enough weight on how much damage it would cause to the upcoming line up and existing sales, something that was much less of a concern for the WiiU. They could easily get away with a June 2024 reveal ahead of a November 2024 launch thereby ensuring Mario Wonder, Mario RPG, Luigi's Mansion 2 HD and possibly Peach get enough sales done first

Not sure we needed a direct for that ???

Has someone at Nintendo been playing a lot of souls games? other players signposts and player ghosts you can see in the world while playing errr wut?

Full credit to the narrator for doing his best to make it sound exciting and new.

"A desert world with glistening sand as far as the eye can see! A subterranean cavern full of burning magma! Choose courses in any order you wish, and come back to a handy menu to play them again anytime!"

I see where you're coming from.

I'm not mad that we had a Direct for it, and I'm still looking forward to playing SMBW, but not having a Direct for it wouldn't have made any difference in my eyes.

The Ghosts stuff...a nice touch IMO and not exactly out of place if you look at past Mario games.

Realising that the same concept levels for 2D Mario have been repackaged with new artstyling was a little underwhelming, not gonna lie.

Its not a massive new art style it feels like all they have updated is the character animations and style, the world and backgrounds look very similar to NSMBU the desert world was very flat as was the cave area they showed. I don't have to wait till October to play this when i can go play New Super Mario Brothers U deluxe instead.

Never said it was a massive new artstyling, but it is a new artstyling all the same - it is quite clearly nothing like the identikit assets used from NSMB Wii all the way to NSMBU/NSLU.

But yes, the return of platformer clichéd "ice world", "fire world", "sand world/Egypt", etc. is disappointing.
