New 2d Mario and Sonic both looking good. Although it’s maybe just the trailer but the Mario game seems a bit Sonic style with some emphasis on maintaining momentum.Comment

I thought that. Hopefully there’s some chaining/linking feature similar to NiGHTS for repeatedly score and/or time attacking the stages.
It’s ridiculous that no one has flat-out ripped and expanded upon the NiGHTS format. Not even at an indie level. I think Viewtiful is kinda that.Comment

Loads in there that appealed to me. Mario RPG and the Star Ocean 2 remakes both look excellent with two very different formats, the new Mario 2D thing looks great, and the 3D platformer thing (Penny's something or other?) might not be my cup of tea but I thought the swinging mechanics looked decent. New Warioware could be worth a shot, little to see of the new Peach thing but that could be decent too, P5T we already knew about but feels like a very appropriate platform for it... yeah, I thought it was a decent showing.
Understand folks waiting for Metroid Prime 4 are probably losing hope at this point, but a lot of the other, wilder, expectations are surely just pipe dreams at this point.Comment

Some decent offerings totally down for luigi's mansion 2 i really enjoyed that on 3DS it's nice it gets an extra chance to shine again. Mario wonder looks bizzarely fun, love how the levels just go bonkers when you grab a wonder seed. Interesting that pikmin 1&2 have been given a re-release this will make the switch the only console that has all 4 of them on there. Something tells me that nintendo have already stripped out the existence of the e-reader from the 2nd game as before. Would have been a wonderful gesture to put all the e-reader data into the 2nd game so everyone could play the 3 extra puzzle games the e-reader cards added.
A new warioware is always welcome & it looks like the wii one which is promising as the last one released on switch i found pretty mediocre it was a boring play mechanic & because of that i never finished it, it's the first warioware game i have never 100 percented used to love unlocking everything in the older ones. Personally not a huge fan of mario RPG played enough hours of it to have found pretty much everything back when i had it on super famicom maxed out literally everything & found eveything so unless nintendo are adding something new to it along with the nicer graphics i'll probably pass. I'd would have loved to see the mario & luigi rpg games get a remaster over seeing mario rpg but those would be way harder as the later ones needed 2 screens.
a reasonable direct however i never go into them hyped with a ton of expectations that way you don't leave dissapointed. With the sheer volume of 3rd party/indie stuff releasing over the rest of the year and now this new nintendo 1st party releases there's going to be a lot to get through.Comment

Definitely on the same page as others where the direct prompted a little smirk, maybe a gentle nod of appreciation however then I carried on with my day and back to zelda. People in the office seemed to be a bit more buzzing tho, which was lovely to hear.
I find I'm replaying a lot of games at the mo, or enjoying some next gen remakes (like resi 4, deadspace) - so bring on switch 2 and hopefully prime 4 as a launch title!
I'll likely skip mario wonder but I am excited to learn something sometime about whatever new 3d mario pops up (I'd take Mario Galaxy 3!)

Oh! I do like how bright and colourful Nintendos directs are. They definitely have a different feel and vibe, more fun and playful then others. I enjoy watching them even if the content itself isn't really to my tastes and the reactions after from fans do make me smile
