I find that the gaming audience at large gets really obsessed with framerates these days - probably because we generally have it so good in terms of graphics and performance that now everyone is hyperfocusing on optimisations. Unless they're really bad it doesn't bother me that much. The game is killer, which is the main thing. The art direction was genius!
I'd largely agree with this, but I did find Link's Re-Awakening to jitter on occasion when I played it. Not enough to ruin the experience but it was there all the same.

I'd imagine that the complaints about it were largely out of surprise - Nintendo prioritise rock-solid fps in their games for the most part. Historically, it's been resolution where they've struggled more (and even that hasn't really been a problem since they went HD for game development), so I do think that can be improved upon if they use that art style again for a remake of the Oracle games and they should be looking to improve that if we're honest.

Link's Awakening drops frames because of the way some areas are cached or something, and has nothing to do with the graphics. Which makes it extra annoying in that we were never going to see a fix. :/

Be that as it may, Grezzo and Nintendo should still be looking to do better. It's not like the engine couldn't somehow be refined or even rebuilt from the ground up to try and eradicate the issue going forward should they want to use it again. They obviously have the resources and know-how to do this if they really wanted to.

Interestingly it looks like the TOTK launch was staggeringly front loaded. Nearly all units sold up front and then sales have cratered since then. Makes sense in a way given how similar the game is, after BOTW you're largely either keen or not for more

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold over 60m copies worldwide.

MK9 isn't ever going to happen, is it?

It's nuts. Amazing game and the booster pass was great value but I'm 'done' like I am with GTAV.
