The popular theory I hear being thrown around is that the JoyCons will be compatible with the Switch 2 but that they won't fit directly to the side of the console, making this the new way they expect you to charge them.

This is it.

It's been possible to buy the charge grip, which does the exact same thing as this - only while also being able to play at the same time, since day one.

From the other photo in Nintendo’s tweet, you can see the middle part removed from the stand and it looks just like the current charging grip but without those curvy prongs:

So of course the charging port is on the top - you can remove the grip from the stand and use the joycons while charging - otherwise it’d be like the Dreamcast controllers!

I suppose they could’ve had you dock the grip on the stand upside-down so that the cable runs downwards, but that’d mess with the aesthetic

Took the risk on this, i have waited a while to see if more confirmations were true and it seems it is as a lot of buyers have been confirming rev002 so i took a chance and ordered on the shop is weirdly in japan so it'll take a while to get here. Still boggles the mind that nintendo couldn't wait a couple of months to get the 002 revision on the cart before releasing it physically the whole point of these expansion releases like zelda/pokemon/splatoon is to get all the exansion stuff to the cart so when they nuke the eshop again you don't potentially lose this stuff. Although i don't think nintendo see it that way lol

The one that people have been confirming is all on cart is from here. I emphasise that I can’t confirm myself till my copy turns up so it’s a risk of if all copies that are been sold by them are the new revision, the site is here.

the website confusingly says download required adding to the annoyance of if they are all revision 002. A lot of the comments on that YouTube vid are confirming though that they received the 002 revision. In a few weeks I’ll be able to confirm when mine arrives if you don’t want to risk it yet as it’s not cheap from them.

Nah it never came out. It's unclear what it would have been used for. I would hazard a guess it would have seen some practical usage in Wii Fit and possibly also been used by WarioWare or other minigame type games (Take a deep breath!!! 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...). If Kojima had ever done anything on the Wii I bet he'd have used it for something or other.
